Most of my family goes with option 1.
It takes a lot of practice, but for example you put on your Levi's first. Nice and snug. Then you just stuff your undies down the front of your pants around your waistline sliding your hand down your right thigh. After about 5 or 6 minutes you can then start working up to a little two step rhythmic kind of dance to work them around one leg and then eventually both. Once there, you can then kind of violently jiggle/twerk your ass and hips to work the undies back up from your legs up to around your mid thigh area, and then you can reach back down inside the pants from the waist and pull them up from there. I mean, it's just how we grew up.
