Stoops has never had a great offense, either. This might be the first year he has one approaching that metric. Lots yet to be seen.

If he gets up 20 points on a MAC School, Stoops will call off the dogs and run basic sets.

Normally yes but this year appears different. He has an offense with a great deal of potential. He knows he will need to score points to beat Tennessee. He knows he has a very good QB that needs to build rapor with a talented group of young receivers. If the offense is clicking this first game, I think he lets them go to build confidence.

I agree. I think he might want to actually put it on some poor team and show we are for real this year. I can also seeing him not wanting to reveal too much for Florida as well so who the hell knows? Lol.

If our team is as good as we hope it is, then the one thing that can derail our season is guys getting banged up and injured.

If we have the game well in hand, my preference would be for Stoops to call off the dogs and start rotating in a lot of the younger guys. Keep the starters as fresh as possible and work on building depth.

Ideal situation would be that we cover in the first half, and then can hold that lead through the second half rotating in other guys. Who knows if that’ll happen though. First game of the season can sometimes be a bit sloppy, so that may be very optimistic. We’ll find out soon.
