I agree, how dare he come to a UK message board and discuss one of the biggest stories of the off season. The nerve of some of these guys. Come to a UK message board and discuss what’s going on in the program as opposed to coming to a UK message board and telling people they shouldn’t discuss a UK story.

I can't emphasize this enough, "Sharpe is not playing for UK next season." He is projected to be selected with the #6 pick to the Portland Trailblazers. All along this was the safest play for Shaedon and his camp. No risk all reward.

You have to be the eternal optimist or Harry/Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber to think Sharpe is coming back. Take your heart out of it and listen to your head.
1. He's eligible for this draft.
2. He's a projected top 10 pick (currently in the 5-6 range).
3. He'll make anywhere from $26M to $11M in salary during his first 3 years if drafted in the top 10.
4. That's $9M to $4M per year.
5. He will still also be eligible for NIL like deals. Maybe not at the level of a UK NIL deal but he'll have $9-$4M to offset any possible loss.
6. This kid has no ties to UK, didn't apparently grow up wanting to play here, has no real attachment to the program, UK posters on the wall growing up, going to games with granddad, etc. Coming to UK was a business decision, like it is for more 5 star talent, and going to the draft will also be a business decision.
For the life of me, I can't see what Cal's strategy had here. Saying you finally landed an NBA ready player that you were favored for, get the fanbase excited, a buzz in the recruiting world, and hope it would buy him time to have a great season? He had to know that the kid would be eligible for the draft whether he reclassified or not and was never going to play for UK regardless. This is his job and he's too well connected.
It would have been much easier had Cal told him that he couldn't come and sit on the bench. If he comes, he plays. If he didn't feel like he was ready to play, then we'll see him next Summer. Put the message out in the media and then when he said he was going pro, Cal would have looked much better with the fanbase.

Don’t worry I called my guy and he’s working up a design to turn the current tattoo into a werewolf riding a Harley that says “Bad Moon Rising”. He’s going to add an “I” and in the end if Sharpe and put a Shar Pei in a sidecar with a flamethrower. So, good compromise I think.

Sharpe had to go through the process of staying in Lexington and signing up for classes. Oops I said process! Anyway, he may or may not come back. I don't have to eat crow either way.
