platoons = smothering D, regular subs = better offense

My biggest takeaway last night was our poor defense. Our D has showed up for all the games. We pretty much abandoned the platoons (marcus lee?) for whomever was scoring. I think that the D can play great with 5 in 5 out but it limits offensive flow. Last night was a shootout so Cal left whomever was scoring in and it worked (barely).

Just glad to be 14-0. Ole Miss was HOT last night.

I agree with you on the D, but disagree on the offense. The best offensive flow of the night was the first rotation of the blue platoon. After that is was hit or miss, much like the substitution pattern.

Ole Miss shot out of their minds. Doesn't matter if we had platoons or not. Every year a few SEC teams do this to us.

One of the biproducts of the platoon system is that it wears out the competition. Last night, the platoon system wasn't fully implemented, and the fatigue factor didn't come into play as much as it normally does.

Just a poorly executed game on the defensive side of the ball. Rebounding and Defense is about effort and energy and UK had none on that side of the court especially in the front court. Cal towards the end went with the guys he trusts to make big shots. That's why the platoon system was largely abandoned late in the game and I expect more of the same when the games gets close like last night.

The fatigue factor didn't come into play when their best player couldn't even shoot freethrows?

This is a pretty good point.
