Pj Washington or Trey Lyles?

Lyles because he is bigger and they have a similar skill set. Washington is a better passer

Both very nice players. Washington does a little of everything well, especially rebounding.

Not that it means much but Lyles was ranked higher in a better class. We'll see how accurate that is.

Too early to tell. If PJ gives us what Lyles did, I'll be more than happy!

You'll get trashed for posting that.
I don't care. I worked for the commenwealth for 25 years, and retired. I have kept up with the Cats since Riley and Dampier were sophs. I have watched and listened to 100 games to every game most on here have. I will say it again, I am a Kentucky Wildcat fan, and could care less about the nba, so if they want to trash me for being a Wildcat fan, trash on baby cause I could care less.

I wasn't too impressed with Lyles at UK. Thought he was so so, but definitely talented and definitely had potential, just don't believe he was spectacular at UK.

Sadly I agree with this morgousky. I don't remember being overly impressed with lyles ar UK. I thought he lacked motor, and he lacked killer instinct. If he would have had that, he could have been a force. Maybe it was his role here that gave me that opinion, but I thought he was capable of more.

And to continue my thought, maybe it was the fact that he was sick for such a time. Could have had something to do with my memory?

Yep. Another reason losing POY was such a big deal, IMO.

Yeah morg, I don't think we got to see what he was able to do. Before he got sick or hurt, he was playing well but he hit a real inconsistent spell which is normal but it came at a bad time but he is one that I would have liked to see come back for a second year.

Lyle's had to play out of position all year. I liked his offensive skill set. His defense was hurt by playing out of position.

PJ looks to have better athleticism and reflexes. I'd love it if he had as reliable of a jumper as Lyles.

Nothing was more of a guaranteed bucket than a midrange jumper from Lyles.

Also, nothing was more of a guaranteed miss than a 3pt jumper from Lyles.

I'm hoping PJ is more physical than Trey. Trey was more finesse. I think PJ has more attitude and swag. lyles taller but PJ has longer reach if I'm not mistaken. Both can hit the outside shot enough to keep D honest. PJ probably better on the boards. Different players but probably both just equal in effectiveness.

Washington, he plays with a chip on his shoulder and with attitude...and has better measurements. He's my favorite player in this class by far!

Lyles would probably the highest ranked of all of our recruits coming out of high school but it's hard to tell before they play college. High school competition varies so much in different places. If I had to choose I would pick Lyles.

Is it just me or was Lyles kind of the odd man out when he was here? I can't remember a single play that he was involved in.

Lyles is a better player, because he's going into his 3rd year in the NBA and he's just more skilled now.

At the same stage? I would say both are eerily similar, with PJ Washington having a slight edge due to being a good bit of a better shooter (Lyles had the flattest shot of all time), and being a better passer. Both are similar in that, their defense was geared for the 4 spot, but their offense was conducive to a 3 spot (Washington's offensive game is that of a high level small forward, his perimeter defense has always been the question, but I don't see that being a huge issue with his size, motor, and athleticism, to go along with some coaching from Cal, starting early with the Team USA U19 stuff.

I like Washington's potential, but, as of now, I say Lyles. Let Washington actually play a year of college basketball, and then ask.

Lyles was solid but I think PJ will be a much better rebounder and defender. I also think he will shoot the 3 better but not have quite the mid range that Trey did. Maybe its just me but I dont think Trey hit the glass as hard as he should have. Trey was highly skilled and had finess but IMO was the weak link on that team.

Some could have been role. I never felt he fit in with that team, least-good fit of any of the top 10. He needed to play the 4, was just not in his best position on either end of the floor playing the 3.

Lyles played on an Overloaded team of talent. Probably had a lot more than I saw. Not an NBA fan but hope Lyles stays productive for a long time! Washington will surprise us all. He is fluid on the court can play in transition. It appears he has lost some of the weight coach Cal asked him to lose. Can pass like a point guard and has good hops. He- needs to work on his free-throws. Will mix it up and likes to get in opponent's head. Heck I love Washington's game already and he will feed his teammates.
