I'm sure someone will pay this kid, but it might be someone even worse than Mempiss. If he popped into the portal a week ago, a top end school probably makes a nice deal with him.

I didn’t say he was. I said the money is there. The way the nil pays off for the boosters/investors is if we make a final four or win a title. Ok on dame Saar but where is he? The foreign guys could be really good or they can flop. They are always unpredictable. Do you remember darko milicic? lol
I figured (along with everyone else) that if PJ entered the portal - #1 - we'd have a thread up instantly on it and #2 - it would be an insane amount of money for him. And that appears to be the case.
Hence, I'm with don'tworryboutit on this one (as well as most everything else) ...
Gimme either Stojakovic or Sarr and I'd be fine with settling it as is.
But after looking everything over, I would much rather not see him at another high performing SEC school next year. Just another dude that keeps the league at an insane level of talent and athleticism, if he were, say, to head on over to Bama' .... and that definitely makes life tougher.

Exactly why we need to pay him. Don’t let him go reload Bama into another team we are slightly worse than because we didn’t wanna rock the boat. These are the pickups that make you an absolute contender.
Just imagine if we did get a Haggerty or an Ian Jackson type player to finish out the roster? Hopefully we have the funds and Pope sees that, as any coach with half a brain would, if we're to land a player like this with a returning Oweh (hopefully), JQ, BG, and the rest of the roster, our chances for winning a title would automatically double! Please don't sell the roster we have now, short!

We don’t need to be paying any one player far more than the others. Thats not how we operate. Thats not Popes agenda. How would that do for team chemistry? Look at the two teams in the championship. Were either of them paying anyone on their rosters an exorbitant amount of money or significantly more than the rest?

Truthfully we don’t know any numbers for sure but these guys know the market value exists and not everyone will be paid the same as well. That comes with being a professional.
