Pitino will never own up. Blames bad reputation on internet.

I also think he thinks about what if he stayed. 4-5 titles. Maybe 1000 wins. You don’t know what you got till it’s gone.

Think of how many of those that would have been taken away from us with him too.

I think his ego will never let him be humble. Like some said he will always find blame somewhere else.

I think he wrote a book about how humble he is once. Which is a pretty sure sign someone isn’t humble.

Pitino just says things. I think he usually believes them at the time. I’m trying to like him again now that he’s well removed from UofL (his interview on the ESPN Greenberg/Dakich podcast is awesome) but it’s ... you know ... a work in progress.

Love him or hate him, having him back in the college game will be fun as hell.

One of the things that I believe eats at him like canker is that Cal is at the Top spot in coaching in college basketball. He (Pitino) had a voice and and some influence while at UofL.
If Cal spends his opinon on a subject regarding anything it's news because he's the head man at the top program in the country. Articles are written all over the country about it. He gets interviewed on ESPN or FOX Sports.
Nobody worries what the head coach at Iona thinks.
Spot on. It seemed to drive him crazy that he couldn’t be the center piece in the state or country with Cal at UK.

If Pitino was so good why did Cal beat him over 80% of the time. Cal also beat him the only two times he played Pitino in the NCAA tournament when it really counted. Pitino was at Louisville 16 years and won 0 titles and left them in shame and on probation. The only coach in history to have been caught by the NCAA providing prostitutes to 16 year old kids and the first to have an NCAA basketball title vacated. If you call that a great coach you can have Pitino. No thanks as far as I am concerned.
Seems to me I recall Rick winning a NCAA game against Cal,trying to remember which one.[winking]

After losing to them in the regular season I felt better about playing them the second time but if we had not played them at all during the season, that game would have worried me badly. :)

Not while Cal has been at UK.

You didn't say while at UK,that would make a difference.

That is all I care about.

Cal beat Pitino the only two times it mattered in the NCAA tournament? What? Pitino and Ky beat Umass and Cal in the final four in ‘96.

It amazes me that some fans cant and never will get over Pitino going to UofL...Sean Miller, Bill Self and LSUs coach done a million times worse and its caught on wire tap and texts. Of the 4 Pitino should have been the last one to be fired, FACTS!
FACT peeteeno and the u6 were already on probation.
So they SHOULD pay more of a penalty.

OMG....this thing with Pitino...let it go. I know he didn't do things right. As a matter of fact, he was pretty awful after he left Kentucky. But jeez, let's stop beating a dead horse. I'll admit, I was a Pitino fan. But that has changed with what he has done. But I don't keep harping on it. It just gets old after a while. There seems to always be a new thread about the same old stuff. Yeah, he saved Kentucky during a horrible time in our program's history, he left and made MANY bad choices, then got in trouble and his halo fell. People are angry he left. But enough is enough. I know the threads will never stop. I just don't see the point. It's the same old stuff over and over. What difference does he make in our lives now? Yes, I clicked on this thread. I did it to see if it was the same ones complaining about the same stuff. He made me angry but life goes on.

I've personally been on a roller coaster ride with Rick. When he decided to come to UK, I was so excited. I was a student at UK at the time. I couldn't wait. Then the first game, the team comes out, the managers/trainers, coaching staff......nothing, nothing, nothing...then Rick comes out. I looked at my buddy and said, "he thinks he's bigger than UK and he never will be." His ego was (is) huge but UK was winning and I don't think he was cheating to do it, so I was pretty happy. (On a side note, it's one of the reason's I like Tubby so much, no ego involved. But looking at great coaches....there is always an ego. You just have to control it and don't let it control you.)
Heard a lot of rumors about his personal life. I know someone who was in school at UK and a classmate of hers told she was dropping out of school at UK and Rick was putting her up at an apartment in NYC.
Then he left for the Celtics. Didn't blame him, great opportunity and it was a LOT of money.
When I heard he was thinking about going to UofL, I called a friend of mine who worked for him when he was at UK. Rick had told Bill Keightly that he was NOT going to UofL just hours before it was announced he was.
It's funny the only two times I've got on here and gave info was, Darius Rice told the staff he was coming (old timers will remember this) when he visited and when the rumors came about Rick. Both Darius and Rick changed their minds. LOL.
The older I get, the less I dislike him and feel more sorry for him. Seems like to me he has to lie to himself to keep from being miserable. Tough way to go through life. Don't wish anything bad to him and thank him for the time he gave to UK.

Who cares. I just like winning and Cal is one of if not the best.
I agree, but he's a great recruiter.
Was just curious how a man, who hates Pitino more then anything, feels about his coaching ability if on a level playing field.

Not much to like when he gives the middle finger to Cats fans.
