Pitino recognizes Sheppard’s greatness

Pitino is an amazing man. Considering at his age he has the dexterity to post this tweet while atop a prostitute is simply remarkable.

Good on Pitino for making that post. I mean, he's absolutely right and it's undeniable, but he didn't have to make that tweet. 👍
It’s about damn time he said something nice about this program. i mean dude doesn’t issue a peep about Joe B or even send a vid for his old team for that reunion…..

He’s got a lot of ass Kissing to do.

He said more positive things about Sheppard than Cal did in his entire presser. He didn't have to qualify his positive praise either. Meanwhile Cal was like: Reed made a bad pass.

But let's also not forget that DJ is coming back from an injury and used to shoot 40% from three. Just in cast anyone forgets, Cal will remind them 60 more times before the week is over.

LOL you need to watch the presser and make up your own opinion....may be a lil bit different.
Well, that’s why I made this post in the form of a question. Because I actually don’t know. But others on this board have insinuated that CCC had all kinds of nice things to say about Wagner and Dilly, but nothing to say about Reed. And it was mentioned that his initial comment was about Reed’s late game turnover.

Nice to have a UK Coach recognize and compliment his greatness while the current coach rarely does, in fact goes out of his way to downplay or ignore
This has irony since Pitino has been all over the news for absolutely shitting all over his team and his program and saying his time at St John’s is the most miserable point of his life.

Maybe we can get cal to return the favor and compliment one of the Johnies

Pitino coached Jeff and am sure sees a lot of Jeff in Reed as most of us do.

Nothing wrong or strange at all with a Pitino compliment here.

Besides, it shows that he actually watches college basketball instead of Little House on the Prairie!
Maybe Cal could learn something if he watched other teams play.

Cals a joke we know whose team this is.

No nothing strange at all and I’m glad Rick said it.

Still, a lot of irony in what that other poster said

Y'all gotta find something to whine on Cal about. Now you're bring your coach into this? Pretty sad really. Hey, your St John's team sucks.

Pricktino has to find something good to say about a player on another team. He's already ripped his own to shreds.

Ya know, I think I've figured out why Cal is this way.

He feels like he NEEDS to praise certain players to help them stay positive and not lose their confidence.

Reed is so solid and reliable that Cal doesn't need to do that for him. Cal also knows that Reed can be coached hard and it not affect him.

Cal not praising Reed shows that Cal knows how mentally tough Reed is.

Cal always praises the guys who are struggling with their confidence.

I think years back Jeff Sheppard said something about supporting Pitino at the height of the UL/UK rivalry, it raised a few eyebrows in the state.

You mean like how Coach Cal decided to play Reed for 35 minutes (out of 40) last night and put the ball in his hands to make FTs and to win the game? Wow, crazy way to ignore a player...

Cal knows Reed is about to be showered with praise by both the local and national media - and Reed deserves every bit of that praise. Cal knows Reed is going to be celebrated in the lockerroom and the team is going to go crazy for him.

Cal also knows he has a struggling DJ, struggling Edwards - and he needs both of those guys to play better if this team is going to make a deep postseason run.

No one on here has any clue whatsoever what Cal said to Reed after the game, or in his player meeting with him today. So to think Cal somehow mistreats or squanders Reed is absolute nonsense

Maybe the guy has love for his former university and his former coach. I don't see how that would be a bad thing.
