Pitino expected to be fired tomorrow

Just curious, who at Stripper U has the power to fire Pitino? Who would have to sign off on that? TJ? Board of Trustees? Interim president?
Jurich, the president, the board, the governor of KY can all technically fire Pitino. But Jurich is probably getting fired too.

ive posted on this site for over a decade taking the heat and dishing some out as well. It sucks to be a Card fan right now, but when it is all said and done, we will be fine. The show will go on. Maybe a breath of fresh air is needed.

enjoy our plight. Hope that you never have to feel like this as a fan. It sucks man.

MAYBE a breath of fresh air is needed?

This is why you’re in the current situation you are; allowing these criminals and scam artists continue to get by with these things and then turning a blind eye to it hoping they’ll learn their lesson.

Burn the place to the ground and start fresh.

You guys could have had Chris Mack if you had the balls to fire Pitino last year. Instead, you’ll be lucky to get Billy Gillispie to replace Pitino.

You reap what you sow.

How do you not fire Jurich? How do you not fire the guy who oversees all of it?
Like I said, it is only a matter of time. They have kept Jurich around this long to manage their defense against the NCAA investigation. But Jurich ultimately cannot survive under the new UL leadership, which will be forced to start over.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Beasley said even before this that he thought Pitino should be fired.

Per my buddy who writes for the card chronicle. Announcement expected tomorrow morning.

Edit: Don't shoot the messenger, just what I'm hearing

I think there will be a lot of fire for some, some day......

Why would they wait to announce it tomorrow? If Pitino knows he's going to be fired why wouldn't he just say screw it and resign?
Seeing if the FBI is for sell first. If they can make a deal they may try to keep Pitino to look less guilty.

We have. Remember the SI cover, "Kentucky's Shame"? We went through this back in the 80's and 90's. Many Louisville fans made sure to puff out their chests and throw that into UK fans' faces. You've been a stand-up poster about your desire to see Pitino fired, but you're going to see a lot of UK fans, myself included, remind UL fans about those stupid "Got Pitno?" shirts.

Still think a great idea for a shirt is a blue Got Pitino? shirt. You could really go trash like they are and maybe mention sloppy seconds or how something of ours tastes on the other side of the shirt. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Pitino will always regret making his bed with something like a Jurich. What made him decide to come back to the state to trash his glorious years at Kentucky and destroy his reputation forever for a dump like UL?

He seemed fine at UL until Calipari came along to UK. I never would have thought Pitino to be so afraid of another coach like it's not clear he was of Cal. I should have seen it though. His ego issues were always evident. He's a weak man.

We've felt exactly how you feel. And for much less (reported) wrongdoing than has gone on at UL. And holier than thou cards fans reminded us of it regularly right up until the shit hit the fan at their house. So I doubt you'll get much sympathy around here. I know you have been one of the few to say it, but not many of your fellow fans have. The house should have been cleaned over there a long long time ago. Most corrupt university I've ever seen.
I have been villified and blacklisted saying it on Zips site. Steelers and those guys hated me saying it, but it is the truth. Should have fired him after the porchini incident.

At that level, it's really a political issue. On a Saturday, Eddie Sutton went on CBS and said he intended to remain at Kentucky. The next morning David Roselle, then UK President, called him and said "I've got the votes Eddie." So Sunday afternoon Eddie went back on CBS to say "I have decided to resign my position as head basketball coach at the university of Kentucky." Roselle had talked enough board members into siding with him such that he had a majority of the votes, so no one was going to stand in the way of firing Sutton.

In Louisville it's been an open secret that the interim president at Louisville, Postel, wants the full time job, but the athletics department (Pitino, Jurich, etc.) doesn't want him to get the job because they don't think he is supportive enough of athletics. (What that means is they can't count on him to let Jurich do whatever he pleases like Ramsey and Shumate did.). Postel has the support of the UofL board, and persistent rumors say that David Grissom, the board chair, told Postel to fire Pitino this summer. But his buyout is $19 million, too much for a cash strapped school. Now presumably they can fire him with cause, and won't owe him the 19 million (although practically they will agree to pay Pitino several million not to go thru a lawsuit). So now, presumably Grissom and Postel can get to the ending they've wanted.

Props to you for saying this. The irony in all of this is, Card fans have been saying this is what is going to happen to UK, because they hired Cal. What is Zipp saying now?

I don't see Pitino or Jurich going anywhere. UL has no concept of "cleaning house". Everyone knows it's what would be best for them, but they won't do it. They'll ride this out. You'd have to kill them to get them out at this point.

There Is o surviving this one. Pitino had many fooled about hooker-gate but even his compulsive lying ass cannot rationally pass this off as another "I am shocked and had no idea" moment.

There is literally a video or a tape, or maybe multiple of both, out there right now where at least one and very likely 2 of his assistant coaches actively discussing big time pay-for-play schemes that they have perpetrated and continue to perpetrate. All of this is career ending. You add this on top of the heels of hooker-gate and how Pitino and Jericho barely survived that, and they are both toast. Pitino for sure. But have to think both. It's not really a choice anymore

I get it bro. I'm old enough to remember the ash Rick pulled us out of. I think that's what done him in to be honest. After he got us a title after the mess he inherited I honestly think it took over his head a little. He has some serious ego problems that make him think he's invincible and above everything. And I know it's hard for fans to see it now but yes you do need a fresh start after all the shame the man has brought to your university then refuses to accept responsibility for any of it. Y'all will get back on your feet in no time though. Hang in there bro.

You're a good guy in my book, beasley. You have stood by your convictions even after your fellow fans gave you a lot of grief and kicked you out.

If more UL fans had reacted to the corruption the way you did, your program wouldn't be in shambles like it is today.

Hang in there.
