I heard Neil Price on the radio this morning saying that you could go to UK athletics site and see a rendering of what the new practice facility would looks like...Well, I went there and couldn't find anything...Can anybody help??...THANK!!!

Is the nutter fieldhouse being renovated with the new complex? I'm under the impression that the new facility is being built right next to it and I didn't know if they are going to be connected or what?

Damn! Our facilities are going to be super nice after all of this is in place. Those renderings look every bit as nice, modern and cutting edge as Tennessee's much vaunted training/practice facility.

That weight room looks massive! Going to have a lot more equipment than the rendering shows I imagine. The lockerroom had an awesome setup. I thought all of it looked sharp though. Hopefully they'll let people tour it when it's built I'd love to take a walk around the place. There's obviously a ton of stuff that they didn't show a rendering for. I was told that they'll have a working pharmacy and doctors there to treat players on-site without having to send them to the hospital (for more minor injuries I'm sure)

UK's indoor practice facility is only 50 yards long? I didn't realize that. 3-4 years ago UGA built a place 20 yards long and 50 yards wide, too small to do much of anything. But are in the process of building, or getting it started, a real one, 140 yards long, 80 yards wide and 65 feet tall. UGA and UF were the only 2 SEC schools without one and now both are in the process of getting one built. Going to take part of one of the outdoor practice fields, an old university building will be torn down and some land has to be bought. In the past we have bused down to the Falcon's indoor facility if possible. But this is being built for more than football usage, but football will have priority when needed. 30 mil pricetag, most of us were expecting about half of that.

Gumpy--a misplaced modifier so you read it differently than he meant it (as I did at first).

He's saying, "unlike ours, the indoor playing surface UT has is only 50 yards long."

I know it's tacky to be a grammar cop, but in this case it does change the meaning of the sentence (and I'm not trying to put down the OP--I realize we all make inadvertent grammar mistakes).

looks to me like we are surrounding Nutter with all these new additions/improvements

From what I know, they are not doing anything to Nutter Fieldhouse. Its still one of the nicest indoor facilities in college football. Thankfully, they took out that horrible astro turf awhile back and put in the field turf. They are essentially now connecting all football operations to it which has been something UK has wanted to do for a long time now. The outside of the renovated stadium and new training complex were designed to have somewhat of a matching feel of what the fieldhouse looks like so it all meshes together.

I am still disappointed UK did not market the new training complex better. UT and others have done really cool virtual shows showing off what their designs were before they built their facility. UK just released design drawings. Either way, it looks like it is going to be really nice, but I am not sure it is going to raise the bar further than what UT and Oregon have done recently. It will serve its purpose and will show off very well for recruits who visit in the next few years.

Our current IPF is not 50 yards long.......

And UT built new and renovated old facilities a couple of years ago. $45 million worth and theirs is also not 50 yards....

00...I too would have liked to have seen UK do a virtual show showing off the new facilities ... Mitch has said on numerous occasions that we don't need the nicest house on the block we just need to be able to live in the neighborhood...I think we are accomplishing that...Coach Stoops has stated numerous times that when finished KENTUCKY will have as good of facilities as anybody in the country

Yes, the original line should have read unlike ours as ours is a full 100 yards plus a full indoor track around it with more space even beyond that.

I had to read that wrong, I like UK's, can do quite a few things in there, really hard to justify that kind of expense if you can't because otherwise it wouldn't be in use but a handful of times a year.

For the record, I completely disagree w/ Barnhart on this point.

While I applaud the AS-OF-LATE commitment to UK's football facilities, I believe it's IMPERATIVE that UK DOES have the 'nicest house on the block.'

If we were Alabama, we could entice all top players just on our tradition alone. We are not in that boat unfortunately (thanks, UKAA of the 1950s!). Neither was Oregon in the not-too-distant past.

The answer? Out-do USC, UCLA, etc. on the "SEXINESS" of the facilities. Several years (and kabillions of dollars) later, "Daffy Duck Oregon" is now "Sexy, Relevant Oregon."
