Neither of these players will ever play. Both will transfer out by the time they can really contribute. No way do these kids stick around until their Junior/ Senior year for playing time. Cal is recruiting 4 star practice players at this point.

Pretty sure the same was said about Hawkins, and Harrellson, and Polson, etc.

Hawkins and Willis are from Ky. That's why they stayed. Charles Matthews, Kyle Wiltjer, Marcus Lee. Etc etc etc....., Never see the floor.

Signed Hawkins and Willis.....Cal has done great with lower rated recruits as long as they aren't convinced their one and dones.

There are times when you can really find a diamond in the rough. I feel pretty good about Shai Alexander. He seems to be the kind of guy who can contribute soon because of his physical tools and his leadership, even if he's not the greatest athlete. I think he's a bit of a diamond in the rough. I think he will be at UK at least 2 years, maybe even 4. I'm not sure about Mark Smith. I just don't know much about him.

can't say much for Matthews; the few times he was in, he was ineffective
but Wiltjer had his big shot in 2012-2013; played about 24 mpg - avg 10 ppg
Lee, the same last year - played about 22 mpg, avg 6.4 ppg.

never see the floor?

With all respect this is an ignorant comment. It's a simple minded response from those who rate every player on vertical and 360s. Shooters can play. Skilled polished shooters play a lot and are invaluable to any team that wants to win big.

It looks to me like Cal is realizing he needs to land some solid 4 year guys to solidify his chances in the history books. He's never gone this hard after 4 star and skilled shooting guys. Some have been screaming this for 4 years. Cal has ALWAYS been best with an upperclassman diamond in the rough. Roe, CDR, Antonio Anderson, Miller etc. it's what we've been lacking.

Whether or not he can contain the OAD beast enough to keep them remains to be seen. Citing 4 star Kentucky kids is spin. We need to actively have a few scholarships for evaluated hang around guys that fit what cal needs.

Holy crap can someone ban this troll. Yes a guy who NBA scouts are really enamored with in the future like Alexander will never play . LMAO . Please go to bed it has to be past your bedtime. Alexander is a 2-3 year player who will be a 1st round pick and Smith is an amazing phyiscal player who can shoot well too and might play pro one day as well but he is a 3-4 year player before that.

He needs the guys. He goes after guys like Alexander all the time ( 4 star guys who might end up 5 stars ) like SKJ , Booker , Ulis , ect. He IMO is looking at someone like Smith to take the role of the Hawkins and Mulder's of his team but Smith is a slightly better prospect then those guys.

But none of those players are recruited to stay. Booker was not recruited to stay. No way. Ulis was told from the jump don't come to UK if you want to be a junior here.

Not at all what I'm talking about.

I promise Alexander ain't being recruited to stay either . he will be here 2 years and be a top 25 pick. Smith might need 3 years but Cal is telling him if anyone can get him to the pros in 2 it is him and he would be correct. Nothing has changed is my point.

Not posting under multiple names. These are just my opinions.

Where's the blind faith you ask?

I've got no F's to give
Not you dude you never say stupid crap . I am talking about Lenny and harlan most likely being the same dude as their brand of insanity is the similar . You use common sense. Not sure why you thought I was talking about you. I might not agree with what you say but it has common sense behind it.

Haven't done a lot of hOnework on him. So that's Fair enough.

It just seemed to me like Cal has been found awfully hard at 2/3 4 star recruits and transfers. Like he's breaking a pattern or something.

Oh I see. I didn't see both post.

Alexander is a high NBA prospect due to his measurables and ball handling for someone 6'6 . Smith and Baker ( though Baker to a lesser extent due to being an elite elite shooter ) are a little different . They are in the Charles Matthew class where they will be pros most likely but need 3 years or so.I sorta expect though Baker to shoot just an insane amount and % from 3 like Lamb and be here 2 years .

It's probably his other account and he messed up...

You can always go root for Princeton or Yale. All they have is 4 year players. You should be very happy. Maybe get Bob Knight to drive you.

We had to add some guards to this class,Cal has done a good job finding some, there will be minutes to be had at the guard spots next year,it remains to be seen who brings what to the table.

Wow you're so overly optimistic about our players it's sad. Alexander will never be a first rounder and Richards won't be a lotto pick after this year either. Damn.
