Penny gags an 11pt 2nd half lead at home

How can Wiseman watch Memphis play, then watch UK and not know that he made the wrong decision? How can you possibly compare the two programs and think the right place to go is Memphis?

These kids honestly think they'll be the one to turn things around. They're used to being the absolute best player on the floor every time.

It doesn't hit them until they get to college and realize that everyone playing was a star in high school. You can't just play 1 v 5 and win anymore.

I'm so jealous of Penny, Mike Miller, and the boys. I mean if we could ever get a coach of his infinite wisdom and skill here, my lord we'd probably never lose a game ever again. Poor Jimmy Wiseman, fell into that fake bill of goods and it will probably cost him bare minimum 5 spots in the draft. He'd already lost his grip as the top prospect before he committed to Mr. Beale Street and now that he won't be pushed or coached he'll probably disappoint at the collegiate level relative to expectations.

Wiseman's decision will always be IMO the dumbest decision in Cal's tenure at UK so far at least. Nothing wrong with choosing KU or DUke ect. But freaking sorryass Memphis who has a HS freaking coach ? LMAO .
I know what you’re saying but IMO that goes to Bolden. Wiseman will most likely be fine as far as draft stock goes at Memphis. But Bolden had a chance to play with Fox and be apart of that team and if he is I think he’s most likely 1nD.

Still players will never learn by other players mistakes and choose other subpar teams other than Kentucky.

They have 10 losses and like 4 of their top 6 scorers (and best players) are seniors. He has a few 4 star freshman but i can’t see them doing much Next year. Even with wiseman.

They will be terrible next year too. He grabbed a few local guys. That’s what he was hired for. Not to win. Just recruit.

You would think he knows this because his AAU team was not very good with him and Jeffries. That's basically what he will be playing with next year Jeffries and a bunch of dudes.

I'm glad Bolden went to Duke. He was way over rated and frankly is a major embarrassment to K and the Dookies. Had he chosen UK he woulda been a blemish on Cal too. Bilas and the national media would be calling Cal put for him being stiff. slow, not very athletic and not developing.Just not very talented IMO.

The embarrassment of bolden certainly hasn’t hampered dukes recruting so not even sure what that means.

I agree with you. That’s why he would have benefited the most by being on that team with Fox and Bam. Next to those two I think he can go late first round maybe early second.

Agreed. We dodged a bullet there with both him and Malik Newman.

What's really funny is Tubby won 21 games at Memphis last year and got fired. Penny may not clear that hurdle. On top of that, I believe Tubby has an identical record to Memphis at freakin' HIGH POINT right now. The old man may not have wanted to recruit all that much but he's a better X and O coach than Penny can hope to be.

People are jealous
And why not? Mick Cronin probably walked out of there with his head hanging low. After all, Penny is tall and played in the NBA but Cronin is short and never played in the NBA. Cronin is probably also jealous that Penny has such extensive experience as an assistant to a real high school coach.

Ok, enough jokes. I really liked Penny as a player. He always seemed a nice guy, and he was am excellent player in his prime. Why does he have to be a jerk and so foolish? Is he that insecure that he feels he needs to draw attention to himself even with negative stories? Why not just turn on the charm instead? I've always been told, you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar.

I've watched a few of Memphis' games this season.

Penny is a very very medicore basketball coach.

Outstanding player, very influential in Memphis, will recruit at a high level, but that is a very poorly coached team.

Star players don't often turn into great coaches. Star educators and motivators that know the game of basketball typically turn into great coaches.
