I'm curious if some of the DJ Wagner crystal ball picks switch back to UK?
Maybe I am giving these "gurus" more credit than I should, but I would think there was more information available to give a crystal ball pick than just a rumor someone would be hired?
UL people now saying Milt is still in play for an associate or operations position.

I can only go by what the national guys and the Louisville guys are reporting to us on the Louisville board - I know Finklestein at 247 mentioned Milt with his crystal ball change but he's the only one. Every insider that has commented to us on the Louisville board - both locally and those that cover other teams - stated their prediction did not hinge on Milt's employment. Chad Lykins from Duke put his change confidence at 8 and flat out stated WWW was his reason for it. One of the last predictions was put in from a national Rivals guys in New Jersey - where Wagner obviously lives.
LOL. If they land Wagner, wonder if the consesus on WWW will change for the 6 people who post on the Card board?
Lot of people just completely discounting Cal's relationship with Dejuan... It's Gramps opinion on it matters more...
It’s my understanding WWW is was a NIKE guy not Adidas. If that is still true not sure how that helps Payne at UL.
If that's the case, they would be prohibited from taking DJ on a scholarship.
Milt will only work for the university if the NCAA clears Payne to recruit DJ.
I can tell you with 95% confidence that everything above is incorrect. Wagner is going to Kentucky-Bottom line.

I always figured it would be some chushy made up job anyway. It’s not over but it helps a bit that he didn’t get this one at least.
Find a way to put Dajuan in some sort of a role. I mean the man played for cal and was all world in college. This is one cal needs to invent a job for bc of his ties.
There is an NCAA rule now prohibiting giving family members a job such as this to land a recruit. He would have had to have been given an assistant job to be able to recruit DJ to Louisville. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure this is now the rule.
This is correct. Kenny is trying to get clarification from the NCAA because this isn’t a typical “hire someone’s coach or family member to get close to a recruit” situation. There’s a lifetime of connection and history between Milt and Kenny and Kenny and DJ. So Kenny is allegedly trying to get around that.
Milts either going to have an NCAA approved job or none at all. The idea that UofL is going to stop recruiting Wagner is non-sense.
I would think it will be a tall hill to climb to get a waiver on the rule. I mean why have the rule if you’re going to bend it for the exact reason to have the rule. If Milt was so desirable as an assistant, hire him.

This is my take as well. Seems Dad’s relationship with Calipari would trump Grandpa’s association with UL.
Out of all the news that has come out lately, this is my favorite. 2023-24 will be our next chance to win a championship in my opinion. Wagner might just be that generational stud Cal needs to win another title.
That’s the complete reason they’re trying to get approval for Milt - he’s not desirable as an assistant but he is desirable for an off court role and the fact that his employment with the university won’t impact DJ considering Louisville is why KP is requesting clarification.
I like how it’s naive of UofL to think that Milt won’t impact DJ. As if a recruitment that involves our head coach being called “Uncle” by DJ and the involvement of WWW isn’t enough - no - DJ Wagner will decide his entire future based on where his Grandfather works. As if Milt isn’t going to continue to recruit DJ to Louisville regardless of where he works.
I just think with all the history and moving parts involved with the DJ Wagner it’s absolutely hilarious to boil it down to - well if Milt isn’t working there he ain’t going there.
I believe prior to KP being hired at Lville DJ was eventually headed to UK. When KP was hired it was an opportunity to add intrigue to his recruitment which is always good. I believe Lville will continue to throw everything but the kitchen sink at it. In the end I still expect him to play for UK. It‘ll play out, we’ll all get our answer at some point.
Way off topic. But I have to ask, how does one from eastern ky become a card fan?
Parents weren't UK fans (weren't sports fans)...I was in grade school when Rick got to UK - loved Rick - rooted for UK while he was there - lost interest under Tubby and got interested in college football. UK was terrible at college football, UofL was gaining steam in college football - then Rick went to Louisville and I've rooted for only Louisville ever since.
Thing is though, I read that they would have to hire Milt to an Assistant Coach role in order for it to be legal, and now all three of those positions are filled.
Makes sense to me. Sounds like you are a Pitino fan more so than a UL fan. Just like the handful of posters on here that are CCC fans and not UK fans.
Really, really boring job. I've grown up around UK and half of my friends are UK fans so I'm around it all the time and sort of follow them through osmosis. Really intrigued by Cal and his future right now so I was curious and bored enough to start posting over here as well as the Louisville board.
Interesting he took an assistant from Duke and Oregon; both major recipients of Nike pay to play. Does it mean anything? We'll see
I saw others said that as well. I just forgot about that rule since we haven't been hearing about family members hired at big schools to often except for assistant coaching jobs. Like that player who's brother was hired by Oklahoma State (I think) to get him to sign.
