Pacers turned this down draft night

Didn't want him going to an East rival? Which makes no sense cause they'll suck either way.

per Goodman. Celtics offered 3 first round picks and two starters for George. They declined. They just got Olidipo and Sabonis tonight for him. Should they have taken the Celtics deal? I think so.

Depends on which picks were being offered. I imagine that Indiana wanted the Lakers/New Jersey picks which will be high in the lottery, and I'm pretty sure Boston wanted to hold on to them.

Only thing I can figure is he thought the fanbase would be happy to get a Hoosier. Hope they like him because they'll have 4 years of him.

Paul George to OKC is kind of hilarious.

Top 3 teams is now looking like GSW, Spurs, and Wolves. ROFLMAO.

PG will leave for Lakers next year...so OKC is probably going to be screwed.

Not sure this whole "i'm going to get 1 star even if we need 3 stars..." move...

Meaningless in the grand scheme of things, no one is touching GSW

i am confused about the action some of these teams are taking. Houston better get another star or it's going to end badly. CP3 will say good bye next year and join with Lebron.

Perfect move for OKC. Take a chance by giving away very little and hope playing with Westbrook is enough to keep him longer. Even if he does leave it's worth next year for how little they gave away.

It's amazing what NBA teams do to prevent sending a player to in-conference teams. I get that the Pacers would be linked to George/Celtics potential title run. But, according to ESPN, the Celtics offered the Pacers a lot of #1 picks and some decent talent for George on draft night.

To me, th bigger picture isssue is ... which move makes you a better team 2-3 years from now. The Celtics offer sounds a lot better than the OKC players.

Goodman doesn't know shit. It's obvious by what the Pacers got that teams are afraid of him leaving after a year. It's just common sense. Goodman is a tool just looking for hits as usual. Hope he goes and gets some more nuts for his mouth.

That's insane Boston didn't take that deal.

That's insane and stupid to reject.

I mean. Paul George is good. But let's not overrate him.

He's not even top 10 players in the league.

Prolly Danny Ainge putting that out to save face. Nothing in the history of Ainge suggests he would give up 3 of his precious picks for a 1 year rental.

I'm no huge NBA fan. I'll keep up with UK guys and since my son and his friends like, I'll watch with him.

But is this really a thing, keeping players from conference opponents?! Good lord. You gotta play everyone eventually, get the best team you can

Bad move.

As someone else mentioned, I have a feeling it is the picks they get based on where they finish the season and not the ones they got from other teams. That's 3 picks most likely in the mid 20's along with a guy like Amir Johnson and someone else. If it's true, it probably sounds a lot better than it was.

Not sure if it is true but supposedly Jae Crowder was one of the current players in the deal. If the offer was Crowder, Johnson and the 3 first rounders ...

Woj just said on ESPN that when Indiana came back to Boston before they accepted OKC deal that Boston didn't make a real offer.

If I was in Ainge's position, I would never make a deal giving up 3 first rounders and a couple of starters for a player you are likely to have for just one season. That would be insane. I'm glad Ainge didn'tgo for a crazy deal like that.

Sounds like AW is shooting down Goodman to a degree here. Last night they clearly said Jeff Goodman with breaking news.

If I'm Boston, no way I do it unless I am really confident Gordon Hayward is coming. I also need to be very confident George would have signed an extension. They need more than one piece to have a legit chance of doing something, and they shouldn't give anything of real value for a one year rental. Either the Celtics did not like the chances of both of those things happening, or Chicago didn't want to deal with them.

The indication is that Boston offered its best package at the trade deadline in February, and that offer included the 2017 Nets pick, which was used to take Markelle Fultz.

Boston was willlng to do more then, because it would have meant two Post-seasons with George.

That may have been the best offer the Pacers received, and they turned it down.

"In what is now a time-honored tradition, reports quickly emanated from Boston last night about all the goodies the Celtics had offered: two starters (some combination of Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, and Marcus Smart) and three draft picks in the most recent round of talks, and a mega-package at the trade deadline, per our Jeff Goodman and Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, that included what became the No. 1 pick in the draft. (League sources verified that tidbit to ESPN.com.)"
