I think having no ncaa tournament and then a tournament without fans really made people forget how powerful college basketball branding is. I think this twitter poll is a perfect example. It’s not perfect because the Thompsons are 2023 but look how little traction it has. And it’s because no one knows who the thompsons are because no one outside of scouts watches overtime elite lol. Think about how many people know Chet, paolo, or Jabari as opposed to Hardy, the thompson twins, or scoot Henderson. How much did bacot or Caleb love’s brand grow because of their run to the final game. They are household names now. I still struggle to grasp how little kids value the brand publicity and fan following that college gives you throughout your career. It was one thing when college didn’t pay but now it does! I just can’t believe why anyone would do the g league or overtime over college because in reality if you are good enough you end up in the same place afterward but college your brand is infinitely stronger. Just my two cents lol
