Over the line? Dan Dakich attacks Derek Willis on twitter

I think he has some problems. Isn't he known to "tweet while drinking"?

I honestly don't think he is all there. I mean, starting beefs with college kids? He's a grown man and is always getting into bickering battles (that turn personal) with people 30-35 years younger than he is?

Check out his twitter war with the former IU Quarterback. Someone in that thread insinuates they have video of Dakich so drunk that if released it would end his career. Like I said, Dakich is a jerk but I think he's got some other stuff going on. Might be a matter of time before he self destructs.

Here is my question, why pick Willis as the target, 65% of all basketball players in the NCAA have Tat's. Most of them come from families that have less money than Willis's.

1. He's a Kentucky player.
2. He's "white(r) so, it's an easy play. Had he said that about a black player the outcry would have been national and he loses his job.

Actually, isn't he an American Indian or Native American or whatever term we are supposed to use this week?

Btw, hate to be that guy (actually Love it) but Willis is not a "Kid". He's what? 23/24 years old, college educated, playing in the men's leagues.

Not a kid, please stop that coddling nonsense.

He's doing the same thing with pictures of other players too. From Duke and IU. Guy is a straight up POS. Actually, that might have been other people posting pics of other players in that Twitter thread. Not sure.

It's other people posting pics of other teams to make the point that Dakich was merely picking on Kentucky with the tweet.

The older you get, the more relative the term "kid" is. I thought I was a man at 23 when I got married. Now that I am 51, I realize that I was just a kid. I see anyone under 25 now as a kid. It's all a matter of perspective. Dickitch is old enough to know better.

I get it, but these guys want to be paid professionals to play college basketball and want more than a "kid" suiting up to die at 18. As far as perspective goes, it's a 5 sided coin I guess.

I think once you hit your mid 20's, it's safe to assume it's not really a kid anymore. Young man perhaps.

I just had a similar conversation with my wife on Friday. I was 25 and she was 22 when we got married. We thought we were so grown. Skip forward nearly 13 years and we realized we were babies who didn't know anything about adult life even though we thought we knew it all. It's all about perspective.

When I was 18, I thought I was super grown. 24 year-old me knew that was BS. Now, 37 year old me thinks 24-year-old me was a young pup who didn't have a clue.

Also, Dackich sucks and seems like a sad old man trolling athletes for relevancy on Twitter.

Then again, I acted more mature at 12 than I did at 22. Then sucked until recently when I hit my 30's.

It is silly. I understand at times while bored a guy might find entertainment talking ish online, but when you work for ESPN and nationally known, it is dumb. The guy really should be punished for doing these type of things on Twitter. I am pretty sure nothing ever gets done and next week, this jerk will find another guy 30 years younger to online fight with. It is odd that of all people to target, Willis is the name that pops into his head? The BBN replying is probably the reason, but still kind of odd. It makes me laugh that Cal has recruited some of the best players in the world while at Kentucky and this dude wants to use Willis as his example of Cal buying talent. Really?

I wouldn't be surprised if dakich came on this board and trolled us from time to time. He has said he loves getting on twitter and trolling BBN for laughs. The guy craves attention, which is evident by him using Willis for this example. He knew it would get us talking. People like him use to get on my nerves, now it's just "meh, what a loser."

It's sad that espn let good employees go and kept this POS. In the world we live in today, they would rather keep people like Dakich who stir up trouble for attention instead of people that are knowledgeable about the game and have some class. It's a damn shame. In the past, he would have been fired for his bs.

Willis is a man and can take care of this in his own way. Ignoring Dakich is the best thing to do because it's the exact opposite of what he wants.

Best just to laugh, shake your head, and move on. He's a small mind. Don't dignify his inane drivel with a response.

EDIT to add: DD will continue to sink further and further into irrelevance with ignorant stunts like this.

Yeah it was a Di@K move by dan and other media people told him that. But he did nothing that you could fire him over. Just not liking something doesn't make it a fireable offense. Didn't curse, say anything racist etc. if you were HR what would be a legit reason to fire him (being a Di*k won't cut it)

Do they have to have a reason to fire him, did they have a reason for all of the others they let go?

I'm not on Twitter, but doesn't BBN have enough Twitter users to make Jockitch's Twitter life miserable?

Does he have a personal business we can ruin?

No death threats.

That said, perhaps reporting him for a unprovoked bigoted racially motivated attack against a individual of native American heritage who is known to befriend under privileged children would be in order. Not to mention the point that it is the truth.

Hell, CNN would probably run with it.

Dakich is employed by ESPN based in Connecticut which is an At-Will employment state. They can fire him for no reason and he can't do anything about it.

Anything can be a fireable offense. What he said isn't protected in any way to keep his employer from terminating him. Why do you think ESPN would be prohibited from firing him for this? They won't but why do you think they CAN'T?

IMO dakich is a first class prick that has over the years tries to rile the UK fan base to stay relevant(remember Ulis NOT a top 5 PG and others?)

DD is a sad, pathetic little man who apparently has nothing better to do than get on social media and pick on other people who he doesn't like.

Sounds quite childish to me. Grow "a sack" Dan; better yet.....grow the hell up.

He is such a tool. Really what is the % of players now that don't have tats. Why pick Willis of all people. Maybe jealous of his life.
