If your kid was a year away from graduating, not starting, would you advise him to transfer? If you said yes, be prepared to pay for that last year of school. Most transfers do not get a scholarship at another university.
I was just curious about how many players we were expecting to transfer out, and if any of them were in the 2 deep rotation.
However, I don’t mind answering your question. If it was my son, I would ask him if he wanted to stay and focus on graduating, or transfer to a smaller school offering a scholarship.
Here’s the part no one likes. (Including coaches.) The dirty side of P5 is that some player will be asked to leave in order to free up some spots. No one likes it!
I want to think I would handle it this way. 1)You got to experience 2 years of SEC football and 2 free years of college. 2) It may be time to pick a school and focus on graduating. This next school may not be free. I paid for 2 kids in college and know the sacrifices. 3) Parents may not be able to afford paying. I fully understand this and want every person who desires a degree to be able to go to college. Money should never be an excuse for not going to college. There is $ available (Grants, student loans, etc …) for anyone who desires to attend.
I’m connected to higher education and don’t mind saying that college is harder on middle income families than any other demographic!
Granted, the college/university may not be an SEC or similar institution. But, I firmly believe people can attend college if they desire to attend and are willing to do the work to attend.
That answer was overkill ;-)
I was really just curious about how many people we expect to leave. Some schools (just north of us) have had some unexpected departures.
