Our second half performance against Bama was the worst we have played all season. However, has anyone brought up that the team had to play a very late night game the evening before in a hard fought physical game? It didn't seem exactly fair to me that the turn-around time was limited. Did the team simply run out of gas?

Maybe. Then again Alabama got the double bye and earned that benefit.

And I think when you are as injured as UK was, your probably even more likely to run out of gas. That and when even the guys that did play. Oweh misses a significant portion of the 1st half and Carr as well. Granted we didn't get blown out until the 2nd half but I think that put us out of sync.

That and .........Bama is just a very good team. And was on.

To me, if we are being honest here........and this is to take nothing away from what Mark Pope and UK has done this season, UK was not a top team in the SEC this year.

Auburn was better.
Alabama was better
Florida was better
UT was better.

Over the course of the entire season, those teams were clear cut above. UK IMO was the 5th best team but on a tier lower than those teams. And when the seeding comes out tomorrow, it will bear that out.

I think that’s a good point but at that age I wouldn’t think that much of a turnaround would or could impact the outcome of a game.

Seeding matters.

I don’t care about “course of the season”, UT was not better than UK.

That’s what sucks about being in the 3/6 part of the bracket. If you make it to Sunday you’re playing 3 games in about 40 hours if things are as scheduled.

Another negative with having the final on a Sunday. The Friday night into Saturday semis day games are brutal.

With the Big 12 and Big East least those semi final games are night games.

That just cannot be it. We have lots of experts here to tell us our players stink and our coach stinks.

We had the same advantage over OU, actually. OU was tired, and we had a 10-point lead in the second half.

If it weren’t for the refs, it would have been a solid 10-point win.

I was actually telling someone this yesterday. I think thats why you seen the first half be somewhat competitive and then we just ran out gas after halftime. Alabama got a taste of the same thing yesterday after playing that late game I thing their legs were gone after halftime against Florida and they got smoked too. Now I am not saying that was the only thing leading to the loss, but it for sure contributed to both I think.

UT was better than us? Prove it.

Def yes..... Williams was gassed in the first half, but anyone would be. He ran the floor better than I have seen all year. Sprinted, and I mean full out sprinted back on D after every UK miss on our end.

No. That just proves they had a better outcome to their season than we did. We beat them twice head to head which would indicate we are better than them.
They are better than us. It's just that our lineup matches up better against them.

They are way more competitive than us when facing Alabama and Auburn.

Fill up more often, or carry a can and keep the windows down.

The conditioning of this team is poor. All season long, guys jogging back up the court, holding onto their shorts, sagging off guys they're guarding.

They are better than us but we beat them twice in head to head competition. Got it.
Often, matchups in games come down to how well one team's lineup counters the other's. Our lineup was particularly effective against them, and they didn’t have many answers for us. However, they performed much better against Alabama and Auburn than we did. Overall, they are a better team than us. In matchups against most teams, their overall competitiveness is definitely higher than ours.

And even in the 22-23 season, we were pretty average, yet we still swept Tennessee. Does that mean we were better than Tennessee that year? Tennessee was a 4-seed, while we were at one point projected to miss the tournament and ended up as a 6-seed. Again, overall competitiveness should be evaluated based on the entire resume against various teams.

Let me know when they stop using our head to head record to determine conference rankings and start using your transitive model. Looking forward to it.

That plus oweh went down and was largely ineffective after. That caused some guys to play even more minutes, which ate into their legs even more. I really thought we'd see a few different zones to help, but i only remember seeing zone once.

Got to finish higher and not lose to middling SEC teams . Hurts the seeding in the SECt and the NCAAT

Yep. People act like it was some random draw that gave bama the double bye.

We were a loss or two away from even playing on Wednesday and a game winning shot away from losing again in our first game.
