He needs to go somewhere like Seton Hall, still a high-level conference. Bad team, good coach. Play 30 minutes a game against good comp, log 3.5-4 blocks per game.
That team is the mirror image of this year's UNC team. 3 high quality guards and very below average big men.It just goes to show you just how POOR the 2023-24 Kentucky front court was.
Onyenso
Bradshaw
Ivisic
All three really can't play at this level. Especially not in the SEC.
There were other flaws, but ultimately, that is why Kentucky didn't win with Antonio Reeves, Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham.
And to be fair, NONE of the three developed a year after UK/Cal. Bradshaw and Onyenso, honestly, got worse at their new schools.
That entire roster wasn't as good as people thought it was. Sheppard, Dillingham, and Reeves were fun on offense, but Reeves was absolutely horrendous on defense. Sheppard and Dillingham were the only two guys on the team in the top 100 for player efficiency ratings. Almost every other top 4 seed in the tournament last year had four or more.It just goes to show you just how POOR the 2023-24 Kentucky front court was.

I definitely think there's been some revisionist history about Cal's ability to develop players. No coach bats 1.000, but there have been tons of guys develop into great players under Cal. Hell, Josh Harrelson got drafted for god's sake. Some of this has to just fall on these guys just not being good as advertised. Cal was able to work with Nick Richards and turn him into a fantastic 3rd year player. Like someone said, Cal just happened to be 0 for 3 on bigs that year, and their injuries sure didn't help. Yes, Cal had other screwups during this time, but if you get rid of all 3 of them for one of Oscar or Nick Richards, we're probably looking a whole lot better.
At least Shagari knew how to dunk the ball.
As always, the truth is somewhere in the middle. Many on this board really don't have a good understanding of the game, to be honest. I recall how many posters bashed Cal relentlessly over not playing Allen more. When he transferred, they said he would shine but he never really did.I definitely think there's been some revisionist history about Cal's ability to develop players. Right. If he doesn’t block the shot the man scores. So he plays 30 minutes and blocks 3 shots, they score the other 15-20 times they go at him.Ugo is one of those guys who can block shots but cannot protect the rim at all. Very limited offensively too. Showed a lot of promise early in his career but not sure he's developed much
Three teams is just the new normal in today’s portal era. That’s quite a reach to try to blame that on Cal.Cal really screwed up the heads of a lot of players. There are alot of former cal coached cats going through 3 teams
Then transfer to Northwestern or Arizona?I am pulling for him to sign with Villanova. He needs to keep the same mascot throughout his college years.

How could Cal 0/3 in finding even one playable frontcourt player
Its always kind of wild to see just what sort of things posters will try and blame Cal on lol.
It took me awhile to remember him and then I still don't remember muchTotally forgot he even existed still.

Yeah I was never expecting to get bounced by Oakland but I was fully expecting us to lose in the second round. Too young, bigs that were soft as tissue paper, and Cal coaching. Writing was on the wall. That entire roster wasn't as good as people thought it was. Sheppard, Dillingham, and Reeves were fun on offense, but Reeves was absolutely horrendous on defense. That's not to say they should have lost to Oakland. But a lot of that team's flaws and issues were just covered up by the "fun" offense.
