Our o-line gave away what we were going to run

I wonder if they've been doing this all season and UT were the first to catch on? Or, The Locker guys are stretching the truth? Or, UK's interior OL just started doing this and we got to break the habit.

IMO, the first two choices seem unlikelier than the third.
JMO but I would think if Tennessee saw it , other teams did. It sounds like poor fundamentals to me , so I don’t think it’s just started. And I don’t see any reason for the Tennessee people to exaggerate.

I guess my thing is if they've been doing it all season why didn't another opponent catch on and completely shut down the run game? Also, it's a common practice for the GAs on all these staffs to self-scout and look out for tendencies that tip our hand not to mention the actual staff seeing things like that too.

That's why I tend to think it's just started if it's as obvious as these guys are saying it is.

Sound reasoning.

As a former OL I can assure you OL do not like any really insane tempo. The last thing you want to do is literally sprint between plays. Of course also definitely not a fan of getting in a stance for 20 seconds while there are endless shifts and motions.

I'm all for picking up the pace. Hell I'm even for just running up and snapping it like UT does since they get away with it. But it certainly isn't the deciding factor in OL play.

Game in and out, the snap count is the biggest friend an OL has
Understand. As i pointed out in my disdain for the gimmicky hurry up UT employs, I'm not a fan of that either. Tempo doesnt mean you have to breathlessly run to line up and doesnt mean you have to go no huddle, but it does mean get your plays in and get lined up and snap the ball sooner after guys get in their stances so that you can build some momentum and rythm.

I never played the position but just common sense tells me it cant be good to be frozen bent over in a stance for 10 seconds. And when you wait until the play clock runs down the defense can see that too and literally time their get off from that. And build up from that creates an enery transfer to the defense who is leaning forward while the offense is leaning back.

We are a complete flipping mess right now. Lost 3 of the last 4, our horrible off-season has come home to roost.

Our coaching hires were awful.
I listened to an interview where Levis said he sat in on the interviews and weighed in on who he thought the new OC should be. I guess that is what we get when we let a player who is leaving in a year have a say on our coaching staff.

Scang (like most coaches) does seem pretty high on himself. I know a lot of coaches that can talk a better game than they can coach. All these weekly NFL references is probably a good indicator of why Levis was high on him. I'm sure he talked like he could prepare him for a top pick. It's turned out to be nothing but hurting Levis' stock because the way he has handcuffed him instead of just letting him be a football player. Levis has been over coached this year..

Levis was projected at best 4th round last year. This year he's in the conversation for #1 overall. That's hardly hurting anyone's draft stock.

To the detriment of offensive production, he's been allowed to showcase throwing from the pocket, throwing with touch, and going through progressions. He's inconsistent but shows flashes. That alone is a huge step up from last year and it's why he rocketed up draft boards.

Plenty to complain about with the offense but it most certainly hasn't hurt Levis. It's completely built to showcase him and it's worked in that regard

I have always heard that one thing a bye week is good for is self scouting. If UT picked up one the tells and we did not recognize them in a bye week, shame.

If you’re going to fire a coach who is 38-20 over the last five years you better be sure there’s a better coach that you know you can get. Because things can get worse. A lot worse. Fast. Just ask Auburn.
I'm not advocating for "firing" Stoops. I'm just saying that I believe he's reached his ceiling and it's hard for me seeing him taking the program any higher. Granted he's been successful, but the "way" UK lost to TN was eye-opening for me, UK didn't compete, at all. Yes ... UT has a good team this year but over the last 3 or 4 years, they've struggled but fixed their problems because someone did something right. If UK can't attract high level coaches ... why not ... what's the reason? Everything is here ... except maybe the right kind of support from the AD, President/Administration, BOD. Maybe everyone in the national coaching fraternity knows the UK job is an uphill battle such that the UK job just isn't as attractive for those reasons. There is an answer to explain it and UK being a "basketball" school isn't it.
