Weren't they supposed to hear a reply from the ncaa in about 30 days, which was last friday?

Maybe they've already received it and just haven't gone public yet?

I thought they had 45 days to respond and then the NCAA had another 45 days to respond back to them. I may be wrong but it should be happening pretty soon.

Guys, we should be supporting our little brother as they await the terrible news they are due. In doing so, I would like to remind them of other fine, upstanding people that make the best of bad situations. I'll start us off:

Could be. i thought it was 30 days to get the ncaa reply.

NCAA Bylaw 32.10 covers the appeals procedure (p. 396 of the manual)

Then there is a handy flow chart in Figure 32-2..... which confirms Crawford's timeline is correct. I'll provide the timelines and actual dates below (all timeframes start running from the day the penalties were announce, which was June 15th). This is assuming neither side requests or is granted an extension of time.

Notice to Appeal ... not later than 15 days - June 30th
Response in support of Appeal ... 30 days - July 30th
NCAA Response to UofL .... 30 days - August 29th
UofL Rebuttal .... 14 days - September 13th
NCAA response to rebuttal ..... 10 days - September 23rd
Appeals Committee reviews the appeal and either rules or schedules a hearing. There is no time frame for the hearing, or a ruling. Just guessing*, but it could take 60 days to schedule the hearing, then 60 days to announce the final decision. So we could be looking at mid-January before the appeal is resolved.

I think there is a delay between when the parties' file their briefs and when they are released. UofL's appeal was due around the end of July/beginning of August. But we didn't get the redacted copy of the brief until August 11th.

My guess is that UofL is working on redacting the NCAA's response. But I'm not sure how you redact a laughing gif.

Will the names of the adults involved always be redacted? I understand redacting the names of a minor, but this is a public university. Seems like a public records request should require the names of all adults to be made public

amirite?

I see what you're getting at, but naming adults can obviously directly relate back to minors.. if it's their parents. Now if you're talking about administrators or coaching staff.. it should not be redacted.

Don't know for sure but I guess that UL got the news sometime in the last week. They then have 15 days to issue a rebuttal. Then the NCAA has another 15 days for a final response. Probably everything is embargoed until the end. If these are working days vs calendar days, it will mean basically another 6 weeks before everything is released.
