This guy just seems too much for me. I give him credit-- he's ALWAYS news-- always in the news for something. He was that way as a player-- always seeking the spotlight-- and he's just the same as a coach now.

His latest here is openly speaking of interviewing for other jobs recently. I suppose I should assume everyone affiliated with Jackson State knows he'll leave as soon as he gets a DI opportunity, but even so, basically he's here flaunting his interviews he sat down for with other programs recently.

I have no doubt eventually he'll end up at a Power 5 school (I still think Florida State), but when he must match coaching wits and discipline with far better coaches than he has to now, I'm thinking he gets humbled.

Thoughts?

He surprised me as a coach, honestly. I think he's great and would absolutely kill it in recruiting. I mean kill it in a way that we probably never saw before.

I think if FSU doesn't hire him they're complete fools. They'd be back to relevance literally overnight. Would it translate to serious wins at that level? Not sure

He's done great so far at Jackson State. And I absolutely do believe he'd do fantastic recruiting-wise. But in the end, other things are very important too and think he'd be humbled to some degree at the major level.

I've said all along it makes complete sense for his alma mater to bring him back to Tallahassee. I think it will likely happen sooner than later.

One thing though: I think at several places he'd make the university and athletic administrations somewhat queezy with worry what will come out of his mouth and where/when. With Neon Deion, when you hire him, you're going to get the complete package both good and bad.

Deion is too much “all about me” to my liking, but he’d probably be successful on the recruiting side. He would have to have a strong staff to develop players talent.

And I’m not sure how you could break away cleanly if the team wasn’t as successful as the expectations that are set.

at least as long as bar stool keeps buying players for him anyway.

I saw his team play once last season and wasn't impressed, they were smoked. But if Deion is smart and I think he is when he gets the big gig. He will hire 2 elite coordinators, let them pick their staff while he is the face of the program, recruits, and finds NILs to help recruiting. Deion was not a good technician at CB, he was just physically so much better than everyone else he didn't have to be, he may not even know how to coach someone who is just good.

But if he stays out of the way of the actual coaches I think whereever he ends up can become dominant, and likely FSU, unless Texas makes an offer he can't turn down.

He's bound and determined to get a P5 job and he'll eventually succeed. Like Grumpy, saw parts of a couple of games and wasn't impressed. This is a crazy time.

Ain't it though, multiple coaches making 10m a year, not sure if Kirby joined that group but assistants all got nice raises, well the ones that stayed did. Not sure who is coming to coach secondary, Likely just CB with Muschamp taking S.

I will jump in. Great players do not necessarily, regardless of ability or passion, make good coaches. I say no way on Deion and can provide a resume of a bunch that couldn’t fit the bill either. Not his fault, I just don’t think that is what God made him for.

But I do give Deion his due based on what he's done so far at Jackson State.

However, when he steps up to the next level, I'm talking Power 5 football because I do believe someone at that level will eventually hire him, I think he'll find himself often overmatched.

He will very possibly recruit well and attract some talents, but there are many other facets to the game that he will be outmatched by the coach across the field. I think Deion's schtick-- the sunglasses, the chains, the slick talking-- will only take him so far as a coach.

Let's remember something also: Deion will be 55 years old by the start of next season. He isn't forever going to be that star NFL cornerback all the young kids grew up watching and idolizing. Maybe recruit's dads remember well, but not the recruit himself.

Dion is a Winner. In everything he does. He will make a tremendous DI coach. Because he wants it that bad.

He won't be bringing most of his assistants or players with him, no matter where he goes. He will upgrade all of that.

It's at whatever price you are willing to pay. Most people tend to feel a bit more slimy when following him.

Idk what some of you are talking about. Jackson state went from like 3-8 to 11-2 and a conference championship. Thats plenty impressive. Not really sure what some of you expect

Recruiting hasn't been fsu's problem. They have zero discipline and bad player development. I don't know if he'd improve discipline enough for a quick turn but he'd develop wayyy better than they have been.
