OT: Twitter in Absolute Shambles

^^^You can scour a lot of history books and find few things of comparable importance (outside of war) as that event. Literally changed the trajectory of an entire country and perhaps, over time, Western history.

May also turn out to be a more minor thing.

I’d compare it to an Edison or Ford. Seismic shift that can’t be grasped by people at the time.

You have to think that while that foresight was happening, the guy was still making cars, catching rockets, deploying satellites, building robots, building self-driving cars, improving neurolink and oh yeah, being friends with Hitler.

Elon saved our Republic from forever being lost to the darkness of leftist tyranny. Elon has been the greatest defender of free speech and the biggest enemy of censorship in the entire world at a time when the establishment machine had nearly taken over.

After acquiring Twitter (at a grossly inflated price), he faced advertiser boycotts to try and blackmail him. His response: GFY!

He is one of the most consequential people in the history of our country and the world really. If you can't understand this, you are clueless about our country's founding principles and what it means to be an American, and you can GFY.

$44 billion for the most popular media platform on the planet, 3 branches of the federal government heavily indebted to you and a $20 billion uptick in net worth today alone.

I think the mods need to unlock the original thread so posts can be quoted.
Smart money says that the same individual(s) that locked the “Twitter In Shambles” thread are the same individual(s) that Jeffrey Epsteined the OG Covid thread.

I don’t care who they are…they should be outed and perma-banned from posting on this site on principle alone.

All for the 1st, 2nd, all the amendments, and the entire Constitution. As American as you will find.

We just don’t need another thread devolving into what is essentially a side political thread. All there is to it, and clearly the real intent of starting it.

Look at Donald Trump’s new home

What makes you think I didn’t vote for Trump? This is just a senseless, trolling thread.

Go back to following catsfan around, at least that was somewhat entertaining.

Maybe the folks with Trump in their avatars should switch out when they're posting anywhere but the political forum. Ruffled feathers and all 🙄

Generally I agree with this and I see mostly lunatics shitpost in threads to try and get them locked because they don't like any opposing thought.

But, this is bigger than just politics. We were a c-word hair away from having a political machine that was openly discussing how to "stop" Elon, how the government would "divest" from his companies and some collection of unelected bureaucrat trash would be deciding what information is shared publicly.

It would be a shame for one of the most pivotal moments in our nation's history was buried in a sea of trash of unhinged MSM puppets crying about things they don't understand.

Let's get real about shit.

Elon Musk, the richest man alive, bankrolled the Trump campaign financially & by utilizing Twitter to further promote him. Elon Musk did not do this for funsies. Elon Musk does not actually care about the federal government other than to give the impression he is doing something about it.

Because Elon Musk's real motive is................. government contracts.

That is the quid pro quo. So, yay Tiwtter...whatever. It's a social media site. It was a tool to an ends for Musk. Well played but let's not be naive.

They are 2/2 on locking such threads.

Let me be clear on one thing first. I unapologetically believe that companies have autonomy to do what they want with their applications, servers and platforms within the bounds of moral legality.

And, in effect, Twitter, under Jack Dorsey, could do what it saw fit to enforce it's terms of service. The faux outrage from the right regarding access to the platform was never about freedom of speech. It was about using the platform to promote their own propaganda unfettered.

And yet now it's controlled by Republicans and this narrative magically wilted away. What is not unsurprising is how easily these types of people encouraged government regulation of social media when it didn't fit their agenda, but now claim they are on the side of liberty.

The solution today is still not government regulation of social media, but anyone paying attention should take note of how easily principles are abandoned. This is why I have problem taking pundit types seriously.

The left is fully able to present their arguments completely and thoroughly on X just as the right is able to do so.

The problem is the left’s arguments and positions are complete lunacy and have no remote chance of standing when there is no tilting of the scale or censorship.

Never mind that the rate of banned users hasn’t changed and that the algorithms are almost definitely biased as they see fit. For example, the amplification of Musk Tweets to nearly every account on Twitter.

And, again, it’s their prerogative. I don’t care if they are biased. In principle, I disagree with government regulation of speech.

Oh, Elon doesn't care about the federal government - the horror. That puts him in a bucket of about 150 million Americans because the federal government sucks.

His real motive is government contracts? He's already the wealthiest man on the planet but his motivation is to have to deal with the US government, which he doesn't care about, everyday to get those contracts. Got it.

He bankrolled Trump's campaign financially? Nope. He did what Bloomberg did for Biden and Harris - he gave out a lot of money to turn it into voters.

He did utilize Twitter to promote Trump. That's a no brainer if he felt pushed towards Trump and decided that's who he wanted to become POTUS. Did you think they should have tried through MSM that was putting out 90% plus negative coverage to one candidate while 90% positive to the other? Seems like smart business and it also seems like it grew the platform. It also seems legacy media hates this and that warms my heart.

Sorry man, this reeks of a reddit cry thread. It is possible to have a humanitarian and business motivation while achieving multiple goals or successes.

Like I told my dad this morning... Putin said he was willing to negotiate peace and the Muslims in ME have all said they are ready to negotiate a peace deal. He said the news hasn't said anything about that..

If you want to be informed on issues then you need to be on X. If not, you are just being propagandized.

Yea, Harris being bought herself doesn't mean that Trump wasn't bought. This is the kind of specious logic that leads to a government controlled by billionaire corporatists......oh wait

Anyways, you have a lot of other words here, but again, I think we should cut out the bullshit. Musk did nothing for Trump out of the kindness of his heart. If you don't think that will result in a considerable amount of both money and power being reciprocated to Musk, I kind of feel bad that I have to break it to you.

If you're a Republican, your reaction is probably "Good!" Okay. That doesn't change anything though.

Or.... Musk understood how perilous free speech online was in America. $44billion wasn't for a giggle. If you actually read the twitter files you'd see how corrupt the fbi and doj were with tech companies and censorship. Courts have ruled on it and they broke the law.

Yeah, and then away from the echo chambers, curated narratives and thick cognitive dissonance that will undoubtedly follow, nothing has really changed...only that a Republican uses the platform to promote his politics.

Again, he owns it. His right.

Sure and I didn't make that claim. I accurately pointed out Bloomberg did the same things to help democrats that Elon did to help republicans, which was buy votes and legally. Also, tell me what parts of government aren't influenced by billionaires? I'm probably no more of a fan of it than you are but dude, that's hysterical to try and make it seem like Elon and Trump starts something that hasn't been happening in abundance already.

Cut the bullshit, then. I don't care how you feel about Elon's motivation. I'm actually having trouble taking you seriously at all because again, you have a redditor aura. I am very happy that we aren't likely to see how the US government would deal with Elon and divest from his businesses. If you care about your country, not sure how you can see this as bad thing that the government won't be able to ruin a business because they don't like the guy running it.

You're not changing anything. You're projecting but not changing anything. I get why you're sad but again I couldn't care less that you are.

From your Forbes link:

The majority of recent requests have come from foreign governments, such as India, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Germany, all of which have increased internet regulations in the past year, according to the report—none came from the U.S.

Also, tell me what parts of government aren't influenced by billionaires?

Whether you support Trump. the other person, or not.......

All I'm saying is the truth. If we step away from the hero worship of Musk, and knowing the nature of The Don, a quid pro quo is 100% going to happen.

Im sure we will see headlines about Musk carrying a kitchen sink into the White House and other fluffly window dressing for warm and fuzzies.........

But it's about buying influence. That's the way it works.

You maybe missed it previously but I don't care what you are upset about. It's the most irrelevant cry ITT. You're hyperventilating over something that hasn't even happened. Besides, if what Trump said he would have Elon do by way of making government more efficient as in cutting bloat - I'M HERE FOR THAT!

What you see as "hero worship" is what I commonly see as criticism from folks that don't really do anything. They have no concept of what it takes to start, run and profit in business. They have never had to work with and manage people. But, they're always a remote expert on it. Hate to break it to you, Elon is really f'ing good at business and I like that he makes cool, innovative shit. You know who I don't look up to, people that don't do shit about shit but cry.

I guess libs are sad now that they don't control 100% of all media.

Hopefully we can build a shadow economy and marginalize liberals out of existence.
