OT: Thiero available Thursday for Arkansas

I heard texas tech Chance McMillan will still be out from his injury and or won't be near 100% at all. 14.1 pts per game.

Calipari getting a break with Adou coming back and texas tech missing their 2nd leading scorer. Not to also mention Williams texas tech also 2nd leading scorer hurt is ankle in the round 32 game, so may not be 100%

Id say Arkansas wins this one.

Well, I think Fland could have played a long time ago and his not playing had nothing to do with his ability to do so. I suspect the same thing with Thiero. It's just a suspicion of course, based on how I think Calipari works; and it sounds nutty even to me when I say it, but it's how I feel.

Texas Tech seems to play better without him, much like Arkansas without Fland (until recently). Toppin has been a superstar lately and Darrion Williams is playing essentially like Grant Williams of UT for them. Their PG, Eliijah Hawkins, is damn good too. He was one of the guys Pope tried really hard to get out of the portal last April.

McMillan's replacement is old friend Kerwin Walton from UNC. He will have to play better for them.

This Arkansas run reminds of 2018 when we were playing well in March. Our bracket completely collapsed with 1 seed UVA losing to UMBC and we had 8 seed KSU who was missing their best player in the sweet 16 and Loyola Chicago awaited us in the Elite 8 for a trip to the Final Four.

We lost of course.
"Bracket completely collapsed"

It's the 1,4,3, and 10 seed in their side of the bracket after facing the 7 and 2 seed.

Man, they got 2 injured back this year, that may be more than UK got back in his entire time here.

Outlook for the E8 just went up though. They really do have a lot of talent, just haven't put it together yet. Though I'm still not sold on Richmond at all.
Arkansas was preseason ranked 16th for that very reason, A LOT of talent.

I think he is referring to if Florida were to Lose and the Fact Texas Tech has some injuries and Arkansas is getting their injured players back making it a similar feel.

I will say this though, let's be honest ... St. John's was a bad 2 seed. Very over-rated to be blunt. They played one top 30 kenpom team all year and it was a loss to Baylor.

They were 7th in odds to win the championship before the tournament started at +2,500

Their offense was dog-shit, but they were the #1 KP DE team in the country. I tend to agree with you, but I'm not sure who else should have been there instead of them. I think Arkansas is finally starting to click at the right time.

Aidoo finally playing like the All SEC performer he was in '24 has been beneficial. He just never really recovered from his off-season surgery. He couldn't jump the first 2 months of the season.

All that said, I get why Tech is favored. Arkansas is known to give up drive and kick threes, and that is Tech's game in a nutshell.

There's NO chance Fland would have played again had he been at UK.

Arkansas is a completely different team with Jonas Aidoo,Trevon Brazile, and Johnell Davis all healthy. Couple that with Knox and Richmond settling into their roles, and now this team has much more to offer.
We all know Cal's most successful teams are able to protect the rim and block shots at a high percentage.

Personally, I think Theiro being available hinders their recent team chemistry. Cal will struggle with rotations and substitutions. Guys who have been playing well likely get minutes cut. I've seen this movie before, Cal going with a player he feels an obligation to in crunch time to the team's detriment.

They definitely have as good a chance as anyone at a final four now if Cal has a remotely decent gameplan. The issue is in a close game if his demons show up and they get tight. It almost happened against Kansas. They were fortunate Adams tore his Achilles in crunch time and Dickenson looked to be shaving points.

Richmond has played very well. He’s producing way more than expected. Honestly they have played very well with Knox and him playing big minutes. I wonder how this will affect them as well. I figured Fland would screw them up but he kinda sat back and played within the team finally.

I really like Theiro so I'm glad he's able to go. I heard he tore his meniscus, so glad to hear that wasn't true.
Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion so I can’t argue with you …. but just to name a few people that sh*t all over UK and especially BBN I would name: Triple C, the players that jumped ship (Theiro included), crybaby Ellen and their whole damn family, and the list goes on. I don’t understand why some members of BBN still pull for that man and that team. They certainly don’t pull for us and we’re the ones that got screwed.

I really like Richmond and Knox and hope they both return, and with NIL money, who knows?

My favorite is Wagner. Sure, he misses layups at times and bricks three point shots occasionally, but he handles the ball really well, plays relentless defense for almost 40 minutes a game and is an extremely likable young man that is really the glue of the team.

I still don't understand why so much hate was thrown at him last season by so many fans.

I think most fans issues with DJ were the ill-timed bricked 3s. If you're up 10 and you've got a look then you feel pretty good about a guy taking a 3. If you're down 6 in a close game and he shoots one with 21 seconds left on the shot clock w/o passing, it feels bad. I haven't watched many of your games this year so maybe he's gotten better, and he was sure on fire when he played us.

If Dickinson did not make turnover, even if Kansas did not make goals, Kansas may still win...

Because hes a much better player this season , last season he had games , even stretches , where he was just awful . Its wasnt hate , it was anger at losing in general

Richmond was outstanding defensively against St. John's. He helped shut down Luis, Kadary, and the Johnnies point guards.

He's a stronger DeAndre Liggins. I actually wish UK had a player like Billy Richmond. You can put him on someone like Cooper Flagg and he can guard him with high-level competence.

He's going to be one of the best wing defenders in college basketball next season.

The hate wasn't directed at Wagner, it was directed at Calipari for never playing his three best players - Sheppard, Dillingham, and Reeves - together over the guys who Cal had made promises to, guys like Wagner and Edwards.

Surely it's not that difficult for you Hogs fans to figure out, right?

It's going to end up being UK vs Arkansas for the title and both fanbases will have strokes/aneurysms before the game is played.

Richmond has been outstanding defensively the entire season. His energy, effort and athlectism is off the charts and relentless.

He occasionally throws up a wild shot and makes a ridiculously bad turnover, but I agree, if he returns to Arkansas, he is going to be a problem for opposing teams next season.

If I were Richmond I think I might want to go where I could play PG. To me it looks like he can play the position and potentially do it very well. I feel like he might be one of those guys that just isn't able to ever develop a good reliable 3pt. shot. But at PG his perimeter shooting wouldn't necessarily overshadow his positive attributes and the difficulties he presents to opposing teams.

Good thoughts. He's going to play for pay someday. He's 6'6", and can lock people down like a future 1st team All-SEC defender. The physicality he threw at Luis was impressive. He plays defense like he's been in college for four years already. I can't imagine how good he's going to be after a few more seasons of college basketball.

Cal's got a good one with this young man. Cal should be very careful who he targets in the portal, because if I'm Cal, I do everything to make sure Richmond feels prioritized.

Those are all really valid points, but selfishly, I hope he returns for another season.

Richmond was the only recruit Calipari had coming in that I kind of hated for UK to lose. I knew he was a multi-year guy who could develop. The other two guys, as usual, seemed to me to be "OAD or die" guys and there were much better upperclassmen options. The one concern about Richmond, however, was just a horrible looking 3pt. shot where he almost got his body completely sideways to shoot (which maybe he's straightened out some by now?).
