This piece is about a new sports subscription site that has targeted papers like the LHL and hacks like Tipton with the goal of putting them out of business. I hope non-NYT subscribers can open the link.

On the one hand, an intriguing idea. On the other hand, who did they hire to run their college basketball coverage? Seth Davis. So maybe they aren't sharp enough to pull this off.

I used to eagerly read the LHL every Sunday, that there was news, in the off-season for recruiting info during my elementary through high school years. My point you say?: nothing relevant.

Just saying there was a time in my life when print media was all I had to keep up with Ky off season(like a few on here). The article, if present, was in upper left corner of page c3. Failed to mention, it may have been Tipton, but something says it was Billy Reid. Too lazy to search for who the author was.

More specifically, they want to put newspapers like the LHL out of business by hiring away guys like Tipton.

A better business model would be to take a giant pile of money and set it on fire.

I have zero interest in subscribing to written sports content in 2017. There is more than enough of it out there for free. Only reason I subscribe to ESPN Insider is for all the data that gets put behind the paywall.

The Athletic's model is based on hiring guys like Tipton away. Not necessarily him but people like him. Somewhat similar (other than the revenue model) to what SEC Country did with Kyle Tucker.

They are paying big money. Interesting to see how it plays out. That article certainly created a HUGE firestorm of criticism for The Athletic.

That tweet just hit me the wrong way. To say that he wants to "grow as a leader" is something I would expect to read in a college freshman paper that would receive a C- from me.

Can we use your money. I can come by and get it, and I will burn it as soon as I get home

Paying to read Dookie Seth Davis and Dana O'Neil is far worse than avoiding reading Tipton. They won't get a nickel from me.
