Bottom line for me, if boxing needs Jake Paul to save it then it is in worse shape than I thought. All the props to him for creating the world he now lives in but If he is a serious fighter he needs to start fighting actual professional boxers on the regular and develop a proven resume to get a shot at a title. I think people are not going to continue to buy his act the longer this charade continues.

But why would want to be a "serious fighter"? He's already making more money than all the serious fighters by setting up these bogus circus sideshows with damn near no risk of being exposed. As long as the rube public keeps falling for the con, he's got no incentive to change.

I was wrong. I thought Tyson would look better than he did based on all his training videos, and maybe if he had asserted himself more like he did the first round he could have got some meaningful punches in but otherwise I can’t believe I stayed up for that spectacle.

The "training videos" were just part of the promotion game. It's easy to make anyone look impressive in vids designed and edited solely for the purpose of making the public want to watch a fight. Just as it's easy to con people into thinking fighters truly "hate" each other with scripted trash talk and a pre-fight incident (in this case, the "slap"). Promoters have been using these same tactics forever, yet the public still falls for it.

Again, Tyson looked totally washed up in the final part of his legit career decades ago. He'd already lost everything that once made him so so special by his late 30s. So I don't know why anyone would've thought he could somehow miraculously get it back at age 58.

Of course but the level he's worked wasn't necessary to sell the fight. I despise those brothers so it makes me want to see Tyson give what he has in the fight. Out of shape and super slow Foreman was nearly 47 when he KO'd Michael Moorer.

47 and still active / productive is a LOT different than near 60 and out of the sport for 20 years and unproductive several years before retirement. You saw exactly what i said would happen last night. Tyson appeared to throw less than 5 punches per round the last 3 rounds. Paul backed off of him after hurting him in the 4th round and carried him the rest of the way. Paul is terrible, Tyson should never step in the ring again.

There was virtually zero chance Tyson would win. The only chance he had at all was a ko in the fist two rounds.

The biggest hint he had no chance was the fact paul wanted to fight him. He isn't fighting anyone thats going to beat him.

I actually think some of these guys could very well win, especially some of the more recent MMA fighters. What he saw in Tyson wasn't a guy he could beat, but a guy who would be game to take a dive for millions.

I think you'll see Floyd on one of his next fights. The guy has a ton of money, but I'm sure he's gassing right through it. Paul gets an aging Mayweather who is also fine to lose by decision (in a match that these aging boxers don't really count) and collect $50m.

At least as bad as he looked he didn’t take a beating. I guess Paul deserves some credit for that but an overall sad showing for Mike. $20 mil can heal one’s pride pretty quickly I’d think

Roy Jones Jr., LOL. I read one recap that stated MOST of Paul's fights, he fights guys 2 weight classes below him. If that doesn't scream "hand picked" "safe" fights, I do not know what does. He fought Tyson who is a heavyweight, but over the hill. EVERY fight he has a glaring advantage whether it be a lot bigger than his opponent, fights guys who can't punch, or fights guys who are over the hill. All of his BS talk about wanting to fight Canelo is simply that, talk. Even though Canelo has lost his power and skills have diminished greatly, he would absolutely MURK Jake Paul. We all know Paul will NOT fight him, he wouldn't have a huge advantage over him.
I will pick out a few fighters Paul should target, none will be top / serious contenders in their division :

Heavyweight : Andy Ruiz #10 - 35-2-1 22 KO's (he is 35 years old)
Cruiserweight (up to 200 LBS.) - Michael Cieslak #8 - 26-2 20 KO's
Light Heavyweight (up to 175 LBS.) - Connor Wallace #9 - 14-1 10 KO's

Fight ANY of those three guys, none are big time contenders. IF he would beat any of the 3 (he wouldn't, all 3 would knock him out), then and only then could I take him serious as a boxer. But he will probably pick out a guy like Bernard Hopkins who is in his mid 50's and hasn't fought since 2017. Come to think of it, no he won't, Hopkins is still too dangerous for him, The Executioner would still today destroy him. He will find a 14-10 pro record 40 year old bar fighter that weights 155 pounds, with ZERO punching power and promote him as the greatest fighter today. If people would quit supporting his circus until he fights a living capable fighter, he might actually fight someone with a pulse. But I doubt it, because he would be outed as the fraud he is and crush his little side hustle.

It's not Pauls first fight where his opponent was unusually reserved and docile. Maybe Tyson couldn't have won, but he looked like an entirely different person than what the public was lead to believe over the last few years with his training videos, documentary, etc.

It's not like Paul is some classically trained fighter throughout his life, either (correct me if I'm wrong). He started taking boxing seriously only the last 6 or 7 years.

Whether or not Tyson could win is probably regardless, wete never seeing Pauls opponents give it 100% anyways.

I mean, that was the whole point of those training videos: to fool people to think Tyson had any legitimate shot. Sounds like quite a few people got fooled.

Any 20 or early 30 something amateur boxer would have absolutely destroyed Tyson last night and hurt him badly. Paul protected Tyson practically the whole fight.

Tyson wasn't just over the hill. He was two whole decades removed from being over the hill. A guy damn near 60 in a boxing ring is just sad.

I agree with most but I don't think Tyson took a dive. As someone who participates in combat sports, its well known even 10 years is a huge difference.

Also consider Tyson had an apparently very serious health condition and probably wasnt even healthy enough to actually fight. At the very least it was a massive interruption in his camp

So i think if it was staged at all, it was that they would both take it easy on one another. I think thats the only way Tyson gets through that fight.
