OT: NIL Issues At Iowa

Individual businesses cut their own deals with the` players they want-- that everyone should know.

And where the AD is giving the collective pushback is saying it should be all inclusive to sports/athletes and not just athletes from three different sports teams.
This is the fuzzy area that will have to get worked out. The collective can do whatever it wants to do but the lines between the collective and school have to be drawn. I think this is the issue that Mitch Barnhart has with the new landscape. If Sydney McLaughlin was still at UK she would easily be the highest paid NIL athlete on campus…but she wouldn’t need a collective to bring her deals.
I think at some point there may well be some walls put in place that limit the ability of schools to work directly with the collectives. Schools may be forbidden from selling season ticket holder’s and other mailing lists and promoting giving to them. Forbid coaches from contacting, etc. There are many ways around those walls but I expect them to be built.
