OT: My Red Devils have just won the Indiana state championship.

Sherron Wilkerson coaches them to a win over defending class 4A state champs Fischers who were on a 43 game winning streak and defending state champs. Go Red Devils baby! He was a major star on our last state title in 1992 before going to play for Bob Knight at IU.
Orleans (from my neck of the woods) won the class A title.

It was 1993. Sherron had a bad ending to his IU career, getting kicked off the team junior year for assaulting his girlfriend.

Mike Pavey? Yeah BJ Flynn was a good player on the state champion team as well. Brian Hanley was the leading scorer in that squad in the championship but Wilkerson was the crown jewel. Such an awesome feeling seeing this team win it again.

Now that we know where you're from, piss off.

Jeffersonville right across from Louisville. My Alma Mater. Plays in the largest class of High School Ball. It’s a tough state to win it in obviously with all the talent up north.
Got you!

New Albany has had some good teams. I’ve been to some Indiana HS games over the years. They have some amazing high school gyms! New Castle where Steve Alford played. Bedford North Lawrence, Damon Bailey. Went to the Bloomington North vs South games back in the 90’s. I forgot which school had those Duany Brothers. (Duany Duany, Keuth Duany). Always wanted to attend the Indiana state tournament. I’m partial to all things Kentucky, but Illinois High School tournament is unbelievable.

Yeah New Albany usually has some good teams as well. It’s battle between us a lot of times in this area. We play a lot. Yeah Indiana has some amazing basketball gyms for high school. Some of the best I think.

Ah cool both my Parents worked with Mike and Gary on the police department.

Wow that is so cool, salt of the earth family. Only negative is they are all IU fans😔🤣
Yeah some of mine are as well but I always knew UK was where it was at. My mom is a die hard as well. My uncle on her side who my middle name is after brought UK fandom into my life early on. I’ve been a die hard ever since! Kentuckiana is UofL, UK, IU hodgepodge and a great time with fans all over of all of them. I love being the king though!

All right, you want some pointless trivia? The team that Jeffersonville defeated in the state championship was Fisher's high school. They were ranked number eight in the country by Maxpreps even though they're a public school. The town Fishers is a suburb of Indianapolis with 104,000 residents . There are two high schools there each with more than 3500 students. However in 1960 there were less than 500 people living in the town and in 1990 there were only 7000 and now there's 104,000 in the mid 1980s I accepted a job to move there and liked it because it was a small rural community. I ended up staying in New Albany instead that's how I know so much about the place.

I missed it! Fischers was a tough team! I didn't follow the tournament closely this year, but there were some brutally good teams. Jeff wasn't really surprising. But, I kinda thought Crispus and University were gonna win.

I attended Jeff high back in the 50s before i returned to my old Ky home. We had a very good basketball team in 58. A player on that team was one you may have heard, A future UK all american by the name of Cotton Nash. He transferred the next year to finish up at lake charles la.
Another former UK all American you may have heard of, Cliff Barker, was head basketball coach there for a couple years.
