OT - looking into relocation to Louisville area, Bowling Green or Lexington

If you are set on being 15/20 minutes from one of our three “urban” areas, I would suggest Oldham County, just a tad East of Louisville with easy Interstate access to downtown.

If Lexington, I would suggest Jessamine County, just to the South of Fayette (Lexington) with 10/15 minute access to downtown (except at Christmas shopping season, and the first week of the college students coming back to campus.)

Bowling Green/Warren County has always appealed to me in a different way: an urban area where you can drive forever and never feel like you are in a city of more than 5,000 people . . . very spread out and (to me) a very chill, laid-back atmosphere.
I presume you're referring to BG/Warren as KY's 3rd "urban" area. Well, NKy's Kenton Cty is larger than Warren, and Boone is nearly as large & growing fast - by KY standards. With Campbell, the metro is nearly as large as Lexington.

Actually, I think the three counties up there (Boone, Campbell and Kenton) are larger than Fayette, plus very close to Cincinnati. N Ky would be my third choice 10-1 over Bowling Green area (although Olde Stone is one of the best golf courses in Kentucky)

Yes, “Greater Cincinnati” slipped my mind, completely.

Thanks all for the responses — I appreciate it. Like someone said I don’t really give a lot of info about what I’m looking for, interests and that stuff — that’s on me.

I’m also considering Northwest Arkansas and a couple other places.

I think bottom line is I’m going to have to take some time off work - get my butt in the car and head to Kentucky and spend some time in these places and do some scouting.

Again - appreciate you all, and the info yall posted - I really do.

I’m not savvy about the geography of Arkansas but Walton’s grandson has been transforming Bentonville. He is considered the next in line as Chairman, preemptively, he wanted to make Bentonville an area that people want to live, thereby making it easier to attract top talent.

Northwest Arkansas is growing rapidly. Waltons are trying to make it a mountain biking and arts mecca. The new home office is ridiculous.

I love my Grant County just below Kenton County. We are still considered Northern KY barely but I basically have lived here my whole life (minus my younger years in Kenton and Campbell counties) of course it's changed for the worse over the years which sucks. It's country and not city which is what we like. Our end game though is probably Florida or somewhere it's nice and warm year round.

Have friends and family in Bowling Green and Louisville. Both are great places and both have good options for food, sites, entertainment. I live in Lex area, cannot complain here as well. Will say that living outside Lexington to me is more enjoyable. I have lived in Lexington most my life, NKY area and outside of Lexington. 60 years worth. Winchester is a nice place without many good food options but Hamburg is about 18 minutes away.

Hey all — I’m looking to relocate from the North MS/Memphis area in the next few years (if you know anything about Memphis, you’ll possibly understand) — I’ve thought about somewhere around Louisville, not necessarily the city proper, but the area, also thinking Bowling Green or possibly Lexington…..can any of you tell me pros/cons of any? Recommend any in particular?

Nothings set in stone — just doing some looking into different areas.

It’s going to be just me, so schools aren’t a big factor but —- always want to get in a good school district for future possible resale

Thanks in advance
Feel free to call me....I can give you insight into all 3

If you decide on the Louisville area, Mt Washington in Bullitt County is a great place to live. Not a ton of food options outside of fast food but we have a few sit downs. Super close to Broad Run Park which is part of the Parklands that connects 3 parks that's part of the "Louisville Loop". It's one of the best things the city of Louisville has ever done IMO. When we moved out here 23 years ago, we wanted to get away from Louisville but also be close. We're somewhat sandwiched between Louisville and Bardstown. The school system is really good and you won't find much in the way of violent crime and the like out here. The only problem that has risen over the years is the population is booming here. At one time Mt Washington was the fastest growing city in the State and they've done a lot here to accomodate the increase in population. A LOT of former Louisvillians live here. It's a great area to live in and raise a Family.

off topic, but if you want to see a ridiculous home office, look up the Epic Campus in Verona, WI. Epic is the software Company that controls all your medical records if you use anything like MyChart. Their Campus is just insane. Look it up on the Google maps.

I live in Bowling Green, so I may be partial. But between BG and NKY, LOL, give me BG and it is not even close. All the NKY area is just dirty, suburb of Cincinnati, including their crime and drug heads. Hard pass on NKY.
