Hawkeye country here again. Had some great dialogue last year before our bowl game with several of you.

Thought you might find this article interesting. Shit storm going on in Iowa City currently.

Both our teams have had frustrations this season I know.

Make sure Mark isn't giving his brother Mike a pass :)

Yea, I'm no fan of nepotism but I couldn't read the article. The woke author lost me immediately.

Iowa fans who know/see this situation up close and personal have overwhelmingly agreed with this article-- and we are no woke state-- we are a red state :)

If you're referring to the "race angle", while I wish that had been left out, I also know it's hard for the author to leave it out when one of the primary people the article is about (Brian Ferentz) is currently the defendant in a law suit by former players where race discrimination is the issue.

If Iowa was winning and averaging 30 points a game I'd venture that nary a word would be said.
And from 2015-2021 Iowa's record was 63-25 and you rarely heard of the issue.

Now we are 3-3, and 7-7 in our last 14 games, having a horrendous offense, and it's a huge issue.

Moral of the story: Winning covers all blemishes. Losing and/or poor performance exposes them

As soon as I saw it was an article from Slate, I didn't even bother clicking the link. I sympathize with the OP however, and the situation going on at Iowa. If that was going on here at UK there would definitely be some unhappy campers on this board.

Exactly. No one had a problem with our basketball coach “bastardizing “ our program and talking down to the fans when he was going to final fours . But since 2015 he has a losing record against ranked teams and hasn’t been to a final four and lots of people are getting tired of his bull crap.

He might not have been qualified for it, but Iowa fans tolerated Brian as OL coach. It's the promotion to OC, and this year QB coach, that was just absurd.

The offense has been down, even for Iowa standards, since BF has been involved. Do you think the murmur is true, if the AD fires Brian, Kirk walks?

I didn’t read the article but I never thought it was a good idea to hire Mike Stoops. Gets too tough to make decisions when family is involved.

Brian became OC in 2017 at age 32. He simply wasn't ready for that role. He is simply in over his head as an OC.

Brian is a very good OL coach-- and that's where he should have been left.

But it's blatantly clear-- his Dad was trying to prime him to become the future HC once Kirk retired.

I do not think Barta the AD fires Brian-- no way. Barta is very hands off in all ways.

What to watch for this spring is the lawsuit against Brian and others filed by former players-- race discrimination. If Iowa loses that, Brian will be done-- his coaching career might be done. IF that happens, yes, I think Kirk will walk in protest because he believes the lawsuit is frivolous.
