OT:Bengals Talk thread

Now he is supposed to visit another team. Left again without contract agreement.smh
Probably because the Bengals only guarantee one year of most their contracts. Article I read after they signed the 2 other OL said they are the only team that still does it

Karras or Hill is the Bengals new C one would guess after Hopkins was released. This was shocking to me from the standpoint of Trey being the best on the OL over the past 4 years or so. But he struggled like the rest of them in 2021. Just happy they got rid of Billy Price.
According to Taylor, Karras is the center.

Reported the Bengals are talking to a former all Pro CB, didn't give the name. The guy reported the Collins deal early so hope he knows

I think the Bengals are done with "big" signings. Probaby depth signings and maybe more of their own players. Ogunjobi might be a possibility since he failed his physical for the Bears. Getting him and Hill back would be really nice.

Draft should be interesting. If Linerbaum is there at 31, they take him I believe. If not, likely CB or Edge imo. TE also likely to a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Fixing the O-line in FA was huge in connection with the draft.

It’s such a luxury to not have a glaring need headed into the draft. They can pretty much draft whatever position they want early.

Bengals are rumored to be taking with Xsvien Howard
He is under contract thru '25. It does look like he wants a new contract and is going to hold out. I doubt the Bengals will pay him 20MIL+ a year though

AFC is in a nuclear arms race. Teams getting stronger all over the place. Going to be a war. Meanwhile the NFC is regressing all over the place. The league is lopsided, especially at the QB position with the AFC having 7-8 of the best QBs in the league outside ARod and Brady.

Word of caution. In a non-Joe Burrow world the Bengals would be automatic for a terribly uninspiring year so hopefully the magic can continue. The offseason looks great so far. As a long suffering fan I keep wondering when the other shoe will drop, but for some reason this Burrow kid seems like he is greater than the curse, greater than the sum of all that has happened to us before. I am uncomfortable with feeling good about my team this time of year. Going to take some getting used to. At this point, I couldn't love Burrow any more than if he were my own son.
Dude they went to the playoffs 5 years In a row with Andy Freaking Dalton at QB. This franchise not as inept as people wanna act.

Have not heard this? Can you talk to a player under contract? I guess the team could give permission for a player to seek a trade.
I don't think they're talking to him but who knows. He held out last year because the paid their other corner more than him. They gave him 3.5 million in incentives, like 15 million wasn't incentive enough, to play. Rumor is he is probably gonna hold out again and force a trade. I just don't see the Bengals giving him the 15 Mil he is getting now and he wants more

Yeah, been a Bengals fan my whole life probably since around 1974 or so and we haven't won a playoff game since 1991 so good luck with your opinion.
The fact is they went to the playoffs 6 out of 7 years starting in 2009 with Carson. The most recent playoff drought lasted 6 years. The playoff win drought is finally over thanks to Joey B. Time to break more records.

DB unless Linderbaum is there because Karras can play multiple positions and Linderbaum would be our starting c on day 1.

I also believe in taking the best player available if there is an exceptional value there, especially with our success in FA. Never hurts to add trade value.

Hopefully linerbaum is there and they need some defense...

But also, I'm not sold on the receivers outside chase .. would love to see wandale lined up with chase, that would be nightmarish for the defense.

The Bengals have kicked ass in free agency, especially along the O-line. I thought the loss of Uzomah was big, but we replaced him in just a couple days. I find myself refusing to believe our front office is performing this well, but this is what we are now. All of this has taken a bunch of pressure off, as it pertains to the draft. We have a lot better options now.

I initially thought we’d have to somehow get two O-line studs, which is hard to do when we pick at 31. Now we’ve put ourselves in position to not even have to draft an O-lineman. We can just take “best available player”. Having said that … I’ve had my eye on one player all along, and I still want that guy. Tyler Linderbaum. The thought of having the same QB/C combo for the next 10-12 years, is hard to pass up. Assuming he’s still available at 31.

Higgins is a stud. They have a very reliable, high-end WR3 in Boyd. Adding Wandale would be incredible, and depth is always key, but WR’s look solid otherwise.

But it would be cool to see Wandale flying around catching passes from Burrow.

I’m not sold on Wandale as an NFL prospect. Great hands, toughness and heart, etc., he has that for miles. But he doesn’t have the getaway speed of a player projected at that position. As a lifelong UK/Bengals fan, I’d love to see him in a Bengals uniform, but at what round? I’m thinking 3 is too high, because we have a great young receiving core already. If Wandale slips to 5, then maybe pull the trigger. But again, I’m thinking from a sentimental perspective.

What would be better if he's healthy would be getting Justyn Ross if healthy a future superstar in the 3rd ot 4th Rd. In reality they have needs that need addressed though

I’m not quite sure I’d be posting this, your Raiders have not been juggernauts for the last 20 years. Bengals have not been consistent super bow contenders but they have been decent the last 20 years
Same amount of playoff wins for the last 20 years. Inadequate works. If anyone knows this, it would be a Raiders fan.

I really like the Hayden Hurst signing. He was a beast at South Carolina. I honestly have no clue what TEs are out there this year. No reason to reach and over draft one with Hurst on the roster IMO. Beef up the D and add another hoss or two to OL.

But he's only signed for one year. Might be a good idea to draft and develop a guy. Uzomah was a 5th rounder. Something like that just in case Hurst walks.

Unless someone they really value dops to 31, I expect them to go CB at 31. Then maybe D-line or Edge next. Would say there will be some TE's available in the 3rd round.

I think this happens unless Linderbaum falls. Possible corners to look at are Elam, McCreary, Booth if he drops. There should be some good defensive lineman available as well.

I think they have holes on defense like DT and backup CB/S so I would go that route in the draft. But drafting the BPA is never a bad thing if some spots are light in any particular round. The bad outcome would be a repeat of the wurst pick of the Taylor era in Drew Sample as a 2nd rounder.
Sample and Price have easily been the worst 2 picks in the Taylor era
