OT: 26 of 30 1st round picks weren't born yet for LeBron's first NBA game

Still flopping, whining and being a crybaby while tarnishing his legacy like a boss.
A bubble title in 19-20, 1st round exits next 2 seasons and didn’t make the playoffs the last 2 seasons. I question the “insane level” he’s still playing on.

He's getting ready to break the record for most seasons played at 23. He's currently tied with Vince Carter. Every other player that's reached that point in their career (high teens playing years) has taken a drastic step back in their ability and output. He has not. It's amazing that he's still able to play at the level he is.

25 would be a nice round number. A quarter century would be a tough record to break.

Vince Carter played 80% of regular season games over his last 5 years, LeLoad Management, 64%. MJ, 94.6%

LeBron also has played more games, minutes, playoff games and playoff minutes than anyone ever. Hate him all you want but to try and take his longevity away from him is just laughable.
Talking about his “longevity” and acting like he’s the NBA equivalent of Cal Ripken is what’s laughable.

Carter only played in 30% of the available minutes his last 5 seasons. By comparison, LeBron played in 53% of the available minutes the past 5 seasons.

It was easy for Carter to appear in most games when he was only being asked to play half as many minutes per game as LeBron logged.

Lebron has played 10,940 minutes in his last 5 years, Vince Carter played 6,036 and while MJ (wo is the greatest) played 14,501 minutes, he was in his early 32, 33 and 34 years old in 3 of those years. His last 2 years in Washington were really good years for a guy at 39 and 40.

You obviously hate Lebron. I'm not a huge fan, but I can also look at where he is now in his career and be impressed.

I don’t hate anyone, too much of that these days but i recognize and appreciate the difference between quality mins/games over quantity. Hes done very little for his team since the bubble ring.

Lebron looks like he has another 8 years in him to get to 30 yrs. Really incredible. Sure he will do some title hunting here soon to round out his amazing career. Not MJ but still an absolute legend.

He’s still playing quality minutes per game though. That’s why I don’t understand your take. This last year:

35mpg
51% from the field
24.4ppg
8.2apg
7.8rpg

Agree that his team didn’t live up to their 3 seed.

Who else, this late in their career, played more quality minutes?

He has been 31% of his teams usage percentage (USG%)(possessions ending in made/missed shots, FTA or turnovers) over the past five seasons. Given that he’s nearly 1/3 of their offense (score or not) and averaging a FGA every 2 minutes I would certainly hope he puts up good numbers since the offense clearly runs through him.
I guess our disagreement (respectfully) lies in the definition of “quality minutes.” I view it through the scope of what does it do for his team while I think you view it through strictly individual numbers. I get it.

No one. Also shot 37% from three

3 seed in the West bounced by the 6 seed (4-1). How does that happen with him AND Luka?
Not sure but he averaged 25, 9 and 5 for that series. Luka averaged 30, 7 and 6 but slightly less good field goal/three percentage. Doesn’t seem like either was the problem offensively

Still not as good as MJ or Kobe. The lebron slurpfest ugh.
The slurpfest is honestly well deserved. This won't be popular around here, but taking his body of work as a player and a person he's more impressive than both of them. Been the anointed "chosen one" since he was like a sophomore in high school, and yet that early success didn't ruin him like it did so many other athletes, actors, or musicians. He's had an incredibly successful career with pretty crazy longevity.

But more importantly he's had zero scandals in his career. No, Fox News headlines about China don't count. He never had a gambling problem, never a DUI, never a gun crime, no sexual assaults, nothing at all. He's by all accounts a pretty good dad, is still married to his high school sweetheart, and has had zero off the court trouble.

Let's be honest, a lot of his critics come from a certain political leaning. But LeBron is literally the epitome of the American dream those same people love to worship, and yet he's often hated. Came from a single mother, worked his ass off and pulled himself up by his bootstraps, became one of the best players in NBA history, and is a family man. He is almost the picture perfect poster child of what success in America is all about.

Individual stats aside, question for the defenders….are you ok with the blatant, egregious flopping, faking and theatrics that have become more commonplace as he gets older? Playing hurt and peeking through his fingers to see who’s watching? YouTube has plenty more examples of you need. I’d like your thoughts on that please.
That’s a part of his game I do not like at all. But I can not like that part of his game and still applaud how good he is at the age of 40 going into his 23rd season.

Yes, you can and I’m not trying to be a jerk about this. I appreciate the discussion.

I'm not a Lebron fan at all but those numbers at 40 years old is pretty insane. Most pro athletes at the age of 40 can barely get out of bed in the morning without pain in every joint and the dude is still putting up numbers better than 75% of the league. I still don't think he is the best ever but to be sustaining this level of play at 40 is impressive. Also, one guy can't win a title by himself.

This. X2.

Dude often makes me shake my head. But if you can't respect the accomplishment, you're blinded by hate. And that ain't a good thing.
I don’t hate him but can’t respect someone who acts like that and makes the game look weak and soft like soccer, sorry, not sorry.

Agree to that but I also think he benefits from and his longevity is aided by a lot of medical, nutritional (1.5 million a year for chef/nutritionist) recovery advantages that players before him and most today ($$$$) don’t have the same access to. Hyperbaric chambers, regenerative blood treatments (platelet rich plasma used to regenerate soft tissue injuries), stem cell treatment for joint recovery (been rumored), private flights, shorter trips, better custom hotel setups…he may be the latest but I don’t believe with the advances in sport science, medicine and finances he’ll hold the record for long.

You could be right but it's still pretty impressive to me.
