A dozen plus one

Here's a breaking news flash for you: Indiana produces basketball talent.

A ton of it.

OK, so that's not exactly breaking news. We know basketball is king here. And in case you needed a reminder, just look at NCAA Division I scoring lists.

Here are the Baker's Dozen of Hoosier top scorers (statistics as of Thursday):

IOW, the vast majority of them left that cesspool of a state to play for a winner or to learn more about life than the price of corn.

Indiana has a lot of guys who want to score rather than win - that's not surprising to me. I wouldn't trade Trey Lyles for ALL of them. Trey will not lead his team in scoring - but he may be holding the biggest hardware when the season is over and proving he is the best from Indiana!

Go Big Blue!

Which makes the last 20 years of Indiana University basketball that much more embarrassing. How can you not be competitive with that much homegrown talent? Can you imagine if Kentucky produced 10% the talent as Indiana?

in my opinion this is one of those stats that sounds a lot better than it really is.think about it, there are what about 330 division 1 schools? all of them have somebody who leads the team in scoring. now figure that there are maybe 45 States that ever produced any kind of basketball talent, then do the math and you find that every state should average about six to eight guys who lead their college team in scoring. so while 13 may be a little higher than that I don't know that I would call it an embarrassment of riches like the article does. also would love to see a complete list of the states before drawing any conclusions about the whole thing
