Oscar #69 on CBS (Kyle Boone) Big Board

I think the problem is the NIL where he is not from here.I don't think the rules are the same in Canada like they were in the Bahamas so not sure he could make as much.

Why else would you think a kid, who isn't getting into the NBA anytime soon, and who would get plenty of minutes (7 scholarship players), is leaving? These kids can't get away from UK fast enough.
That is why Oscar came back last year and Cal was able to get another number one recruiting class. These kids just hate UK and playing for Cal.

Really just depends on what kind of guarantee Oscar and his camp want. If they want a guarantee from a team he'll be drafted in 1st round, guarantee for 2nd round, guarantee for 2-way contract??

Just depends on what his camp has in mind. The pro option is there, just depends on if it will be the one that Oscar actually wants

I certainly hope Oscar chooses to return, but his position in these rankings isn’t what I found most interesting.

What jumped out to me is that 3 out of the first 6 draft picks are projected to be kids from either G League Ignite or Overtime Elite.

It will be interesting to see what type of impact that might have on elite players deciding on whether to play in college or choose one of these alternate routes.

Oscar didn't have a choice, lol. And it appears he does not have a choice this year, either. It's the recruiting staff who are landing these kids. Recruiting suffered greatly when we didn't have Antigua. It's also easier to recruit when it looks like you'll have holes everywhere and the head coach is feverishly pushing kids out who aren't ready for the NBA.

It does appear that the NBA is looking to these developmental leagues as a talent pool.

It has to be just look at all the players leaving and we have playing time for them
That is why Oscar says he loves Cal and Kentucky so much. Said he would never leave UK for another school. Of course playing time and NIL is something you never thought of.

But under Cal's system once he gets his 7-8 guys everyone else becomes practice buddies and bench warmers. If he was know for giving the rest time and develops backup players maybe he could get more players. He did it to himself.

If they go somewhere else, then you know the culture and locker room are bad.
Stop making stuff up! How many times does Oscar have to express his respect and admiration for Cal before haters like you accept it? He has made it clear that if he stays in college, he is staying at UK. Livingston and his camp seem delusional. They think he is ready for the NBA. NBA decision makers don't seem to feel that way. If he transfers out, it would say more about him and his camp than about Cal and any locker room problems.

@Chitown Terry

Someone expressing an opinion different from yours, doesn't equate to "making things up". Right now we're all just speculating, that's what people on message boards do. This isn't your personal echo chamber.

Some kids don't want to go to class and are not very strong academically.

2. Oscar Tshiebwe, Kentucky

Big Board rank: 69

Tshiebwe has been through this before and must decide again whether he wants to play another season of college basketball. Who could blame him if he's had enough of the pressure that comes with playing at Kentucky? On the other hand, that unique environment at Kentucky also creates an opportunity for Tshiebwe to capitalize through NIL. For a big man with even less professional upside than Edey, the best financial move may be suiting up for the Wildcats once again.

The smart move for all three of our guys would be to come back.

They will get starter minutes along with Wagner, Edwards, Bradshaw, and Dillingham.

200 minutes total. If all 7 play around 25 minutes that’s 175 minutes. That leaves about 25 minutes for Sheppard, Onyenso, and Thiero.

Guards/Wings (1-3 spots- 120 minutes)- Dillingham(25), Edwards(25), Reeves(25), Wagner(25), Livingston(10), and Sheppard(10).

Forwards (4-5 spots- 80 minutes)- Bradshaw(25), Tshiebwe(25), Livingston(15), Onyenso(10), and Thiero(5).

He's gone. Should have left last year. Big mistake coming back to be used in the same exact way he was the year before with no real development.
Nope. he made more in NIL than he would have made in the NBA or overseas. You think this is about his development? This is about money. He is likely fully developed already

Guys like Chris Livingston are what is so frustrating.Common sense says he should be a sure return to UK but he is the least likely of the 3 to return.
Where's he going though? If he transfers he has to sit out. I think he returns..

Right - more money in that one year allegedly. But the NBA is where the real money is if he can stick and get the second contract. So he took more in the short term for potentially less in the long run.

Especially because NIL was supposed to keep fringe draft guys - and Chris isn't even close - from making DUMB decisions to leave UK prematurely. But here we are.

There's a chance all 4 of Oscar, Toppin, Livingston, Reeves go undrafted, yet all saw a reason to leave UK to enter the draft. Imagine the freshmen class paired with THAT crew for next season. Hands down #1, against KU and Duke's stacked teams.

To me, from viewing that list, my biggest take away----and I think it is a rather sad indictment on the state of the program given how the program has been marketed since Cal got here----is Arkansas, UConn, Indiana and Creighton are believed to have more NBA talent than UK. I can understand how/why Duke, (cheating/unpunished Kansas and North Carolina) may compete with UK for draft picks, but not the first 4.
