Anybody want to answer the question of why Ole Miss football coach Hugh Freeze lost his job for calling an escort service while Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino still has a job even though the ’Ville was running a brothel out of its athletic dormitory for years?

Not much new but it's always nice to see more recent sex scandals measured up to loserville's and Pitino's lofty scummy accomplishments. Especially from a "neutral" source.

I din't care for Bianchi but a good article.

It should be obvious to any thinking person that Uavel athletics is devoid of any sense of right or wrong. There simply is no moral compass there. Any nefarious, deviant, or even criminal act is swept under the rug, somehow justified if it comes to light, and even applauded/rewarded. For years, they have been thumbing their noses at everyone and anyone outside their inner circle of corruption...and have been laughing all the way to the bank.

But the day of reckoning is at hand. They have been exposed as the tawdry and corrupt organization we always knew they were. The public scorn is only just beginning to resonate outside Louisville and message boards. When all the financial malfeasance is fully exposed, it will become a national story. Even cockroaches like turtleneck and pitino may not survive.

Ain't it fun?

Ole Miss is being proactive, while UL is getting hammered for not being proactive. Ole Miss wants to cut ties and move on, and their leadership is unified in doing so. Apparently, some members of UL's new Board would also like to cut ties and move on. But UL's leadership is still not unified, and their lawyers are still trying to figure out how to damage-control with the NCAA. At the end of the day, Pitino has to go. But UL will take the big hit before acting. As a Kentuckian, we should be very concerned about this for more basic civic reasons than a basketball rivalry.

RP is bigger than the program, they're not going to fire him.
The way I see this, the opposite is actually the case. UL has no choice except to get rid of Pitino. But they have gone through dismissal of their University President and their Board. They have lost control of the news cycle and they have screwed everything up so far. This is turning into a classic example of how not to do damage control. (Despite spending a ton of money on expensive lawyers.)

They haven't fired him yet and until/unless they do he is bigger than the program. He is a ticking time bomb but at the same time he is probably the biggest asset the program has.If they fire Pitino it will set the program back 10 years(sort of a joke, how is that for using his words against him and the UL program?)

Pitino's time has come and gone. Pitino is no longer an asset. Obviously, the opposite is true. Just read the OP link. But UL still has lots of money and a large fan base. They can hire a top basketball coach. If enough money and years are on the table to create continuity beyond the NCAA hit, does anyone actually doubt Frank Martin, Dana Altman, Avery Johnson, Chris Mack would come running? Maybe Billy Donovan or Brad Stevens. They would be set back a few years (certainly not 10) by the NCAA penalties, but not by the coaching change. But I think Jurich needs to go too, and that's far more likely than most people think now. I have never bought the UL invincibility hype. If Paterno and Briles can go down along with their ADs, so can Pitino and Jurich.

To an extent I disagree,Pitino being an asset is a direct reflection of where the UL program is right now.He would be a liability anywhere else in college basketball but he may be an asset there.
And just where is the UL program right now? In a whole lot of very serious trouble.

Agree, the truth of the matter is that probably very few know just how much trouble they might be in.Even if they lose a banner and forfeit wins they may not be held fully accountable for all they have done. They will likely be able to keep some of it hidden under the table.

They will be held accountable. Jurich has lost control of the media coverage, and the NCAA is all over this because of Katina Powell's book and the national coverage. I agree with you that very few understand yet how much trouble UL is really in. Before this is over, Pitino's and Jurich's careers and legacies will be destroyed. Their University President has already been fired, and their entire Board was forced out. The scandal goes far beyond basketball.

They not only lose the wins, they have to pay back the money gained from the tournaments they participated in. Millions of dollars while they're in financial trouble because of bologna head's shenanigans.

Personally I think Pitino's legacy is already destroyed no matter what happens in the future. His basketball success will be overshadowed by all the infractions & sanctions that he brought to UL. IMO he will be remembered by history as an immoral, misogynistic, hypocrite who was willing to cheat to win. He's lied repeatedly in public plus showed his self righteous and arrogant attitude while refusing to take any responsibility for any of the endless scandals under his leadership as UL basketball coach.

Obviously, Orlando is pretty far removed from Louisville. Anyone who knows UL, knows they have no morals, and less conscience.

I think it would be shocking if UL did fire Pitino. Firing a coach over a sex scandal is not the UL way. Business as usual is the order of the day at Louisville.

Pitino staying at UL is gold simply for the fact the fan base 'has' to defend him. They have no choice. He is at UL until he decides to leave.

That base has nowhere else to go to try to get wins. They've signed their deal with the devil and have no plan B.

Take away the vacated wins and he has very little to show for his tenure at UL. All you're left with is 1 final 4 and two outrageous sex scandals. (His Wiki page is quite lacking, btw).

I mean after all it is UofSmell, they still think they have done nothing wrong, so why would you fire any body?
