40 years old good success at Murray, ISU another good stepping stone to a major gig. Put him along side Archie Miller, as dudes to think about for the future.

Prohm was very successful at MSU he coached Isaiah Cannan(76ers) and Cam Payne (OKC Thunder) an had great teams here. He is married to a friends daughter so I know he is a humble very good person to add to the mix. I think he will be tested at ISU and so far he has looked good, Fred Hoiberg thought highly enough of him to recommend him to be his successor there and Jay Bilas gave him national exposure with his halftime interview so he is punching all the right buttons, time will tell but he looks to be one of the top young coaches in America, I would be for him if he continues on the trail he is on...but I am a little biased towards him and the Kentucky job somewhere down the road hopefully a long time down the road is not for the faint-hearted.

Prohm inherited a veteran, experienced team that was already running efficiently. They haven't necessarily gotten better since last year. I'd put the brakes on his hype until he's got another 2 years or so. Lets see what type of team he builds there.

If he gets to a Final Four I might put him in the mix. I don't think anybody who hasn't shown he knows how to get to a Final Four and can recruit at a high level should get this prestigious job. Pitino and Cal met the criteria and we had tremendous success. Tubby and Gillespie didn't meet that criteria and the results were ultimately disappointing. jmo

Murray is very close to home and Steve is a very good coach and person. Probably hated to see him leave as much as any coach before, including his predecessor Billy Kennedy. Murray is really missing him this year. (not to mention Cam Payne) Seems to bring the talent out of under recruited players. I think the players respect him.

I think he's already a really, really good coach, potentially a great one.

If demeanor matters to fans, he does seem like he would be the polar opposite of a Cal or Rick. Appears very stoic in sidelines, probably closer to a Wooden type personality.

But he definitely has it in the Xs & Os area, and undoubtedly he has the fire, although he may not show it like some of the successful coaches/personalities we've had at UK.

Bingo.

Little Rick P looked decent last year, when he inherited a solid senior backcourt. This year?

Prohm has proven himself far more than Junior, but this is still his first year in a power conference, with a team that was going to be preseason top 10 no matter who the coach was.

Hated to see him leave Murray but I'm really glad he's having success. Prohm truly is a great guy and anyone that has met him knows that. Always takes the time to talk to anyone, and every year at the High School Region 1 basketball tourney while the high schools got to use Murray's gym for practice he would bring some of his players to talk to them. He didn't have to do that, but seeing the high school guys interact with guys like Canaan and Cam Payne made their day. I hope he elevates himself to the highest level of his career that he desires to achieve.

Between Prohm at Iowa State and Kennedy at Texas A&M, it's a good year for former Murray State head coaches.
Not sure on Kennedy. After I saw he added Stansbury I felt he went to the dark side. Slippery and recruiting maybe not up and up ? Just me but I get the feeing not all is proper
