Clemson and UK battled in a high scoring bowl game last year. Clemson squeaked out a victory. A team that looked much the same was beaten by #1 UGA this past week 34-3. Yet, Clemson remains in the Top 25 at 0-1 after losing by 31.

In 2022, #1 UGA beat unranked UK 16-6. Was UK a top 25 team because it lost to UGA by only ten?

If you get pummeled by another ranked team in your first game, you should not be ranked in Week 2.

Clemson is #22. If they had only lost by 20, would they be #17?

🤦‍♂️

You are thinking way too much into this. FSU lost week 1 and stayed in the top 25, but after 0-2 they are gone. Clemson started the year ranked, lost to the #1 team in college football, no need to drop them 15 or so spots for losing to #1. SEVERAL teams lost and stayed ranked. Now if they would have lost to someone unranked and that bad, yes they would have been dropped from the top 25. LSU dropped more spots than Clemson did, and they didn't lose to #1.

They lost to the number 1 team. We will know by early October if Clemson is worthy of being ranked, albeit in the meaningless polls.

Playoff rankings are all that matters now anyways and they start way later.

With the sorry ass ACC Clemson could still finish with only 2-3 losses..

They may not actually be that good for all we know at this point, but there’s probably only 2-3 teams in the country who can legitimately compete with Georgia this year. If you believed in Clemson enough to give them a preseason ranking, then there’s no need to completely write them off because of a lopsided game against that particular opponent.

What truly irks me is IofL being rocketed up to 22 in the polls for beating APSU. Austin Peay barely has a semblance of a football program. We at least beat a half-way competent opponent.

The ACC bias is real but won’t last long.

Because we don’t know and they lost by 31 points, it makes sense to drop them, rather than assume a preseason poll should have any moment now that games have been played.

This will never happen due to mindless banter fodder and due to TV networks need to hype up weekly games but I wish there were no polls until the first playoff rankings and only the playoff poll.

FSU didn't drop after their first loss because there was no poll. There was the preseason poll and today's poll. FSU went from #10 with 971 poinst to out of ranking with 10 points.

LSU dropped 5 spots to #18. Clemson dropped 11 spots #25.

2 lousy votes for UK even though we would have won 50-0 over Southern Miss if not for the weather.

Vandy had more points than UK. Think about that for a second. AP Poll sucks.

They were rewarded for playing a team with a pulse from a power 4 conference (acc is a joke to me but the networks and playoff view them as a power 4).

If we had played va tech and won we may have been ranked today.

LSU played another ranked team in a barnburner. Clemson got routed.
