The ringer who took tests for the rich and famous is the college exam prep director at IMG.

You know this guy was taking care of more than just the celebs kids. They had a hell of a lot of nerve with his title. Director of College Entrance Exam Preparation.
[pfftt]
Yup. It could get very ugly.

You go back five years and I imagine there are tons of prominent names. Imagine UNCheat and Zona having two IMG kids in the 19 class.:)

Five of the top 60 basketball prospects in the 2019 Rivals rankings attend IMG Academy: Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (Villanova), Josh Green (Arizona), Armando Bacot (North Carolina), Terrence Shannon (Texas Tech) and Lester Quinones (undecided). IMG also boasts three of the top 10 football prospects in the Class of 2019: Georgia-bound linebacker Nolan Smith and Alabama-bound running back Trey Sanders and offensive lineman Evan Neal.

That is unbelievable. This is not over yet. You have to assume that athletes were involved based on the information collected. This guy at IMG will have to spill everything to get any type of leniency. Could get interesting...

Yup.

Wonder how many of the athletes who "train" at IMG Academy end up signing to have IMG agency represent them once they turn professional. Have to assume Riddell did in fact take the tests for at least a few of these IMG academy athletes . Logic would tell you that others in this Sports Agency knew what was taking place !

Yup. And also Calipari. I can’t think of any IMG guys we’ve seriously targeted.

I think HIS cheating goes all the way to 2011

What really suck is for the kids who really deserved to get those spots that went to these spoiled rich brats.

Fact.
Some kid did the work, made all the sacrifices it takes to secure their future, and earned it the old fashioned way and was basically told to kick rocks because aunt Becky has money.

Eh...
Meet Martin Fox, the mysterious Houston sports fixture caught up in the college ebribery scandal

Pat Forde, Pete Thamel and Dan Wetzel

Fox's relationship with college athletics is more nebulous. He's been described in media reports as the "general manager" of AAU basketball power Houston Hoops. He's also interacted with some of the top players to come out of that talent-rich city in recent years, including former Duke star Justise Winslow, former Kansas star Kelly Oubre and former Kentucky star De'Aaron Fox (no relation) — all of whom became first-round NBA draft picks after a single season of college ball.

Fox sat behind Virginia Tech's bench for the Hokies' final regular-season game with Miami in Blacksburg, Virginia, on Friday night.

Anyone who flipped through Fox's Twitter account Tuesday afternoon witnessed a muscle flex of sporting vanity. There was Fox mugging with Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant and Johnny Bench in separate pictures. There were scenes from Virginia Tech's postgame basketball locker room, practice at Kansas' Allen Fieldhouse and an up-close shot of Duke's Winslow cutting down nets. There was a picture with De'Aaron Fox and his family minutes after he committed to Kentucky live on ESPNU in November 2015. Fox is in nearly every picture, happy to position himself at events like the Super Bowl and with boldfaced names from around the sports world.

There were more pictures of Fox grip-and-grinning with a host of coaches: Kentucky's John Calipari at his Hall of Fame induction; Rick Pitino in Las Vegas; Maryland coach Mark Turgeon before a game. And there were private jets, lots of private jets.

IMG hasn't had a huge amount of big name basketball recruits. The 2 biggest recent names are Duval and Jonathan Isaac.

Football is where this gets really interesting. IMG had 3 top 100 recruits in 2015, 6 in 2016, 7 in 2017, 5 in 2018, and 4 this year. And I'd assume a big portion of their players end up playing D1 somewhere.

I think Dakari Johnson went to img for his last season. He followed Kevin Boyle there from St Patrick.

Colleges and universities have different admission standards for athletes. That is a well known fact and I don't know how any university can hide it. They may play it down but it is obvious a large percentage of Div I players have no business in a university other than to make the athletic program millions of dollars. If they were not a top tier athlete they would not get a look by the admissions office. We can go down any rooster of the Top 25 teams and see plenty of players who are borderline illiterate.

The sooner the NBA changes their rules and start a legitimate minor league system the better. It will weed out those who have no interest in a college education and can make a living playing pro ball. It may even cut down on the cheating but maybe not.

Cal has avoided IMG players. He avoided players from Prime Prep Academy in Dallas. He also avoided Rawle Alkins, DeAndre Ayton, and Billy Preston.

IIRC, Cal took a hard line with Prime Prep Academy after there was some funny business with the recruitment of Emmanuel Mudiah in the 2014 class.

Whereas Bill Self's and Sean Miller's (now, Will Wade and apparently Bruce Pearl) instincts have always been to do whatever it took to get top players to their schools, Cal's instinct was to steer clear of trouble by immediately cutting off communications as soon as red flags appeared in a player's recruitment. If the family had their hands out or otherwise showed that the relationship would be too complicated, Cal cut the them off and moved on. Maybe this was because Cal respects our fans. Maybe it was because Cal understands the history of the Chris Mills scandal and the NCAA implications if UK ever gets entangled again in a scandal. Or maybe it's just because Cal, Barnhart, and Bell had a clear understanding. Whatever it was, this has kept UK on the high road while other schools like UL, Arizona, and Kansas went the other way.

Cal and his staff have been employing coaching skills and player development to accomplish and compete with what these other schools have been accomplishing through cheating. And he still manages to sign great classes, even while steering clear of all the dirty players and intermediaries.
