Gotta be what Nebraska fans are thinking. The way college football is set up, Nebraska virtually killed any shot, unless a miracle happens, of them making the playoffs.
Literally 60 minutes into the season and all you have left are gonna be bitter fans and trolls.

that’s gotta suck if you’ve been looking forward to it all off-season.
Kinda what the Florida game is for UK. It really sets the tone. Lose that one and you realize the rest of the season is just meh.

Nebraska fans aren't that delusional

Not a single one of them had playoff hopes before today.

They're hoping for a bowl game

They haven't had a winning season since they fired Pelini 6 years ago. They were never a playoff contender. They are Midwest Tennessee, a has-been struggle program.

I don’t think the Kentucky season is over if we lose to Florida.

Yet they've been ranked top 25 most of those years in preseason polls. It is just amazing how long it takes for pollsters to forget how good a team was 30 years ago. Same with ul. They still rank them 15 spots too high year in and year out.... all because they had a good run in cusa and the bigeast.

Let's be honest...

- The onside kick was a bad call. and made it a ton easier on Northwestern to get back in 1 score game
- But Northwestern is not juggernaut.....even if Nebraska wins....they look at best to be a middle of the road Big 10 at best. They are so-so at skill spots, not a great D still, and they simply dokn't execute very well. Don[t look elite coach team to me.

Should have NEVER fired Frank Solich. Solich compiled a 58–19 record (.753) at Nebraska. His 58 wins during his first six seasons as Nebraska's head coach exceeded those of his HOF predecessors, Delaney (53) and Osborne (55). Went on to Ohio U going to 11 bowl games in his 16 years in Athens.

Bo Pelini after beating Ohio State in 2011 in what resulted in biggest Nebraska comeback in school history:

"Our crowd. What a bunch of f*cking fair-weather f*cking—they can all kiss my ass out the f*cking door. 'Cause the day is f*cking coming now. We'll see what they can do when I'm f*cking gone. I'm so f*cking pissed off."

How correct he was.

EDIT: Fun fact: Coach Vince Marrow served as a grad assistant during 2011-12 seasons at Nebraska when Pelini made these comments.

Not every team has a shot at the playoff. Nebraska is one of those teams. If they win out other than 1 more loss and finish 10-2 I'm sure their fans would be happy.
Still sucks that you have virtually no show. Even in our joker years I’m sure fans were hoping for it all

Not true at all...10-2 and it's a Jan. 1 bowl game. Another bowl win for an 11-2 record ending the season on a high note and being ranked in the top 20. Not bad for a basketball only school and a bright look for recruiting and 2023. Maybe worthy of being mentioned somewhere in UK sports inner-circle.

Yea while that’s great and all it’s still deflating to know you have zero shot at a title

I think it's Four SEC schools have won 11 of the last 15 NC ...sounds like a lot of teams have zero shot. As a 35+ year fb season ticket holder. I'm plenty satisfied and everything positive from this point forward is icing.

My thoughts about the Florida game as well. If we lose, our chance for a special season goes down the tubes.

I read that last year they were the first team since 1936 to lose 8 games by one score or less. It didn’t seem like they were that far off. And now they start off this year the same way. They just find a way to lose.

Read else where that if Scott Frost wins his next 52 games in a row he will still have a worse record than Bo Pelini. He would be 67 - 30 and Bo Pelini was 67-27 .

Replies like these miss the entire point. Nobody is saying it isn’t nearly impossible to get into the playoffs.
Only that one loss to start the season is a preemptive death sentence.
if we lose to Miami on Saturday, this entire year is ruined. One game. Maybe one bad mistake. And this entire season will be deflated. That’s my point.

Win that Florida game and start and stay undefeated before Georgia and there’s still hope. Even then losing to Georgia there’s still a glimmer of hope they screw up and we finish 11-1 and go to atlanta.
Lose any game before that and then lose to Georgia and we are eliminated by week 5 or 6. It’s why every weekend it means something. But we have to beat florida. A loss there and watch the seats go empty

Over dramatic view don’t you think seats will be filled anyway we’re not supposed to be talked about in the NC yet

Doesn't that happen to literally half of the teams in America not named Alabama after their first games?

Bo wasn't the first one they ran off, I can't remember his name, but the guy who replaced Osborn had a good record and they ran him off too. Can't remember if Bo was the guy who replaced him or if there were/was someone between them.

All those PED freaks of the Osborn era can't pass the blood test of today. Plus getting out of Big12 and cutting themself off from their recruiting grounds, Texas, and not establishing anything in the Bid10 has killed the program.

Not if we win out and win the SEC. Every major team can afford one loss and still make the playoff most likely.

Not if you are a real fan. And UK could lose to Florida on the road and still have a great season. Disappointing yes, end the season not for me.
