Earlier today I spoke with a source who downplayed the likelihood that UK would seek to attach the 'co-defensive coordinator' tag to an assistant that they bring on board. Earlier I was told that it was a possibility, but today, after that, I was told that it's unlikely they will move in that direction.
They are "strictly looking for a secondary coach," I was told.
Even if Derrick Ansley had occupied the DB coach/co-defensive coordinator position I'm told that on a substantive level nothing would have really changed. It was a title-based promotion meant to keep him on the staff.
I can't say for absolute certain that they might not have to one-up an offer to keep a(the) candidate in their sights as a plausible possibility, but as of right now the plan is not to continue that title that Ansley had been given before his departure.
