On a positive note…..

If Pope thinks at any point he needs an out of the rotation guy for some minutes, he has to turn to Noah and not Chandler.

Nothing to do with the KY boy factor. Chandler being abysmal to the point of being unplayable along with possible extended absences for Kerr and now maybe Andrew might be too much for this roster to truly succeed.

Worst thing for Chandler were those reports of him killing it in practices, scrimmages before the season started .

Me too. Now the other stuff.

We shot better from the field and 3 then them. Killed them on the glass, but somehow they took 12 more shots than us. Oh yeah, 17 TOs to their 5 and them 21 assist to our sad 11. Ballgame
Maybe if Lamont accepted the role he was given and thought more of his teammates. At times I think he's an improved Wheeler.

That's rough. Wheeler, ouch. But you did say improved.

Everyone knew there would be a ramp-up/transition period.

Don’t think anyone thought you’d literally get nothing from the former top 35 recruit. Saying this as nicely as possible, he’s essentially been a walk on level player with a high vertical.

With him being away from basketball for 2 years I really didn’t know what to expect from him. The reports definitely had me thinking he would be better than he has .

It will be interesting to see what decision he makes in the offseason .

Do you think he would transfer? I'm asking this because Pope is loved by us, and it's difficult to imagine someone not wanting to play for a school that his coach graduated from.

They weren’t just reports though. He looked great in the blue white game. That drive and dunk he had looked very decisive and confident. Idk where that went.

It wouldn’t shock me in this era . The mentality of players are just different. I hope he decides to stay though .
You’re more positive than me! I’ve said throughout the season that I’m comfortable with him returning.

Sadly that’s flipped. I would prefer him to leave. I would say the lowest level of transfer we’d get at UK is an Ansley Almonor type. I just have an incredibly hard time seeing Chandler being more impactful next season than an Ansley level transfer. I’d be comfortable with any risk of him eventually breaking back out.

Sorry to hijack the thread. Chandler bad. Noah better pretty much sums it up!

Why was he away from ball two years? Bad injury?

I noticed Chandler couldn’t dribble after watching him 5 minutes
He dribbles right in front of his body
His shot is very poor also

Out of all freshman Noah is the best but so far got the least minutes . He plays hard and could become in time a solution at 3.

Perry is undersized , I have doubts that he will a starter next year.

Chandler needs more time . He has no rhythm but has athleticism.

All 3 need to play basketball over the summer and continue to improve their body, and skills.

Probably shouldn’t bring dudes in that haven’t played competitive basketball for two years anymore.

This, my friend.

Here's what I'm worried about. Earlier in the season thinking about all complicated wrinkles that Pope has lined up to put into his zoom action system, it really looked like late January/early February was when this team would be really rounding into shape. Finally learned all their tricky sets well enough to use them in games.

Now it's late January and we're on like the third week of backing up the practice schedule to address things like not rebounding hard enough, not staying in the sets we know when the defense gets physical, figuring out how to play so the SEC whistles won't kill us. I actually still believe this team is minimum-Elite-Eight shiznizzle if healthy when they finally learn everything about defense, and especially offense, that Pope wants to teach them. (Even if all healthy except no Kriisa.) But I admit I'm starting to get worried about them having time to learn it all by tournament time. Not to mention what injuries do to that picture and that schedule. We've still already accomplished more this year than we had in the past several years together and I still all in on this staff.

If he can pass out of the post once or twice in his lifetime then I know someone whose minutes he can have.

Yeah backing it in down low and then whipping the ball at the basket and hoping it somehow banks in is not cutting it for post offense. Maybe they play a different game in England?
