Oklahoma - Oklahoma St Bedlam rivalry game ends when Sooners go to SEC

Another little hidden gem in this is those schools that have to play their non conference rival as last game of year (UK-UL, UF-FSU, USC-Clemson and UG-Ga Tech)....we have to play all of our scrub non conference games earlier in September for some stupid reason.

While the rest of schools get to push a scrub game later in year. So they get a much needed easy game right in middle of SEC slate. UK, USC, UF and UGA will not.

Finally, it makes the September home games not as good to go to. It would be nice to play USC in September as opposed to back to back weeks of Youngstown and then Northern Illinois.

The entire game with UL is goofy now. We are beating the crap out of them and if we have 9 SEC games to deal with...why have to bother with UL is beyond me.

A lot of people want to cut the cord with UL but I want the series in basketball and football to remain.
I want it over, but only as an annual. Assuming a 9 game conference slate, I'd like to see 2 G5/FCS slots and 1 slot reserved for a regional P5 game. Contract with them to play H/A every 3-5 years, do the same with other Ohio Valley or Southern Appalachian P5 programs outside the SEC. I'm really not feeling 3 cupcakes and the SEC slate.

Rivalries matter a lot more to the fan bases involved than they do as a whole to cfb fans. If the Iron Bowl isn't 2 top 10 teams, I don't give AF about it unless I see Auburn is pulling an upset.

Bedlam doesn't mean diddly squat unless there are stakes. Big brother Oklahoma pounding on Lil bro has no viewing interest to me unless the conference is on the line.

The Backyard Brawl was semi cool this year since they had not played recently and it opened the season. Otherwise, it didn't feel like an utmost, gotta be played game.

Georgia getting Cupcake Tech the week before the ccg is kinda garbage if the Jackets are only competitive twice every 15 years. It's the ultimate heal before you play for the conference title game.

Oklahoma in the SEC will produce far more interesting games than staying in the Big 12 for the sake of Bedlam. And if it *really* means something to them, nut up and play it OOC.

Personally I don't like the prospect of playing 9 SEC meat grinders, then UL at Thanksgiving (with them having 8 pillowy soft ACC games). Us and everyone else in the SEC will be beat to hell by year end. SEC already leads CFB in starters lost to injuries every yr.

Might cost the conference in the playoffs, also. Our 2 best teams will have to play a 10th conference game in Atlanta. 9 conference sched could cause a B1g T3n national championship winning streak.

Big 10 has 1 title in the playoff era. The move to 9 conference games might, keyword MIGHT, risk getting 2 SEC teams into the 4 team playoff, but in short time that will be moot with the expansion of the playoff.

As for Louisville, either they can compete or they can't. Whether you play 8 or 9 games in the conference is irrelevant to that game.

Rivalry week is about to be the thing of the past … we may play the cards again but I expect at least a break while they figure out realignment

As I’ve aged, I’ve come to believe that the best way to pass a program and then to keep them in their place, is to do it on the field.

We have watched that rivalry for almost 30 years now, and I like where it’s at right now.

What fans want versus what is best for the program. I want what is best for the program, so no UL. It helps them a ton more than us. Go through a meat grinder SEC schedule then all the pressure in a game like this on our players??? Thankfully it looks like Stoops and Barnhart can see this. Having to get sky high for 9 SEC games then put another one on our guys? Not to mention the significance of the bowl game. That is ten highly intensified wars. These new teams coming in, only makes it even more difficult for us to climb the ladder in the conference.

But UL is a scrub game. 153 - 44 last 3 years

You don't like beating their asses and solidifying our in state recruiting edge?
I don’t think they have had an edge on us for years. Any kid who was going to go to Louisville from in-state was never going to UK. The race card that that was played against us has faded into the distant past. It was really put to bed when they joined the ACC for anybody hanging on to that card. Our program would benefit from playing a rotating group of power 5 schools instead if need be once we go to 9 conference teams. Outside of metro Louisville, where are you finding support for UofL across the Commonwealth?

The way UL is buying players, you don't think they are going to stay down do ya? Schedules made ahead of time, SEC getting even more difficult and quality depth everywhere will have to be a norm if we are going to stay where we are at in conference and have a chance to be one of twelve in the playoffs.

You mean the Louisville that is the largest city in the state? Where we've made great inroads, partially because we're kicking their butts.

Yeah. I'm not sure Oklahoma and State making a mistake means we have an excuse to. Boo on them. Rivalries are one of the top things about college football. We should want to keep ours.
Exactly. “Wah. They’re not in the same conference anymore. We cant have a rivalry.”

So stupid. Don’t think for one minute that if UF went to the ACC that UGA still wouldn’t hesitate to hate their guts.

They've been trying to force a UK/MSST rivalry for years.

Do they feel like a rival to you? Me neither.

No one cares about msu uk or ole miss vandu. The cross over rivals are purely to protect 3 true rivalries and the other ones are just random ones that no one cares about.

Bama vs UGA should be a regular season game every year.

Crossovers should include East 1 vs West 1, 2v2, 3v3, etc every year.
