Looking at their schedule, they most likely won't win more than 5 in SEC play. If so, thats a 16-15 record with most likely zero signature wins. I'll pick them against USC, Vandy, at home vs LSU, at home vs Texas and at home vs Mizz. Thats crazy bad.

The team and Cal will have packed it up by then and they won't be pulling off any big wins in the SECT.

If that happens a ton of anger will come down on Cal and even Ellen.

If I'm close Cal really needs to have had a talk with the AD about when he prefers Cal to report his retirement. If he continues, wow, it will be difficult to watch.

Just wait . He’s got some tweaks coming.

I'm not done watching him implode. Nope, that guy crapped all over the BBN while he screwed our program up, all so he could brag about some damn NBA draft picks.
He's a massive ass and he deserves everything coming to him.

Not Ellen though, I don't want anything bad to happen to her, she's awesome.

He brought ALL of this upon himself.

Sad ending to a career he built with working HARDER than his opponents and instilling in his players an underdog attitude that inspired them to over-achieve. Then he became THE coach that could get a player to the NBA the fastest. It worked for a while because the kids worked hard to reach their goal. But then the kids and their handlers figured out that win or lose, the kids draft ranking wouldn't change.

Then, by that time, Cal was so used to his players being more talented than his opponent's, he lost that "underdog" work ethic. That was the beginning of the end. So, here he is 6 years later having LOST everything he worked so hard to build.

SAD

It’s sad at this point. Watched 2 minutes of his post game. Less than a minute in and he’s arguing with a reporter “we weren’t down 3 we were down 2. So, it’s different 2 is less than 3” 🙄🙄🙄 But other than that, the dude just has no fire whatsoever. He’s up there talking about how well things were going and who got double doubles and whatever else, to avoid talking about the obvious. It was honestly just kind of despicable to see how little he cares. Arkansas has become a must beat team in this hellscape of a conference because they really are one of the bottom teams. Says a lot for the conference because the talent is there, but Arkansas is by miles and miles and miles the easiest team to game plan against in the SEC.

Good point about Ellen. This is something that gets lost a lot on the fans. I’ve coached a lot of ball. People forget about the wives. They endure a lot. It affects their marriage, their social circle, their friendships, everything. Now I’m Cal’s case, his wife lives in a castle and sleeps on a bed of cash, but still. There’s the human element. She seems like a great lady. I want her old man to lose every game but I hope she rides it out ok.

You guys are sad! Wow! What short memories you have. This guy took over the program when Kentucky was the laughing stock of the SEC. We had a coach that was a drunk, hanging out at the local bars, and messing with his own players girlfriends. The media was running the guy through the practice facilities.
Cal came in and immediately restored the Kentucky as the Brand of college basketball. Four final fours in 5 years and A national title. He is second in wins on the UK coaching list. Also, what about what he did for the people in Eastern Kentucky during the floods or the people in Western Kentucky during the tornadoes, or the people in Haiti during the Hurricanes. And now you are gloating over his struggles. We wonder why our society is so screwed up. Just SAD!

You can be done. I’m enjoying it as much as UL implosion under Kenny Payne

I don’t like seeing it. No one is calling off the dogs and Cal is the SEC whipping boy right now. Word has gotten out in this league very quickly that you better not waste an opportunity for a W against Arkansas. It’s between them or Texas as the easiest team to beat in the SEC. They are the team you can’t afford to lose to. It’s really that bad, and I don’t think people are gloating so much, it’s more that we all saw this coming.

No, people are not only enjoying, they are wishing and praying for it. I heard our fans everyday and just read the headlines of the post. SAD! The part of our fan base that I am ashamed of.

Lots of high points during the Cal era. Arguably some of the greatest singular moments/highlights occurred under Cal's watch while he brought in the most talented players our program has ever seen. It was a match made in heaven...until it wasn't. Cal's charm, charisma and ability to recruit needed a top tier program to achieve success. A few different decisions, like Xavier Henry coming here or Jodie Meeks returning, Randle not cramping up in the title game, back to back turnovers late in the game versus Wisconsin in the final four, guarding Luke Maye, actually landing Zion Williamson, etc. Cal's time here could have been the greatest resume of all time. But..it didn't happen that way.

It's sad the way it played out these last few years most notably for the kids who came here on a dream that was built by idolizing guys like John Wall, Anthony Davis, Devin Booker, Jamal Murray, etc. A sense of entitlement sold to recruits who came to UK about future endeavors rather than college achievements. Once the scale tipped entirely one way regarding brand recognition and NBA preparation at Kentucky, our program was cooked.

Arkansas is a mediocre program and they decided to shoot their shot on a coach their fanbase has hated on for the past 14 years only to turn around and worship. Can't say we didn't do something similar when we kicked Clyde out. The difference was that Cal still had something to prove when we got him and he recognized the power of our program. Cal's ego thought he could go to Arkansas with his current talent, maybe get to a Final Four and coast for the next 5-6 years before retiring. At this rate he'll be lucky to make it through two seasons.

He has no good graces built up at Arkansas like he did here. The first three seasons as our coach gave him carte blanche, and anyone who thinks differently can go back and watch Robert Morris (2013), Kansas St (2018), 9-16 (2021), Saint Peter's (2022), Kansas St (2023), Oakland (2024) and the countless prime time games Cal pulled from Rupp Arena to "better prepare our guys for the big stage" that we lost and had to listen to Cal talk about no shoot-arounds, tweaks, Cal excited that at least he got to go home and walk his dog, etc.

I'm not sure there's been a greater abuse of power by someone who was truly given the keys to the kingdom. The past few years were solely on Cal, but I do think had a the roll of the dice gone differently in our game against Wisconsin in Indy in 2015, along with landing Zion Williamson as a recruit, Cal would be a different person to this day. Those things didn't happen and now BBN can sit back and enjoy a bourbon watching Pope's regime start off better than any of us could have ever dreamed of.

We have just been jinxed. Now I'm worried about our game versus them. We've got some fans that are jinxes.

Go Cats!!!

Looking at the Arkansas roster Cal has two guys in Davis and Aidoo who are strictly there for the money.
If it were a basketball decision, Aidoo would still be at UT and Davis would have followed May to Mich and played in the system that he was familiar with.
Fland is a poor man's Brandon Knight.
DJ is DJ
Adu has been the only bright spot.
Brazille is a holdover from last year's team turmoil.
Knox and Richmond combined were outscored by Perry tonight.
Z/Cal is a lost cause.

It clearly became all about how much money he could get a few kids a year. He chose a weird metric to determine his success by. His fault he’s losing. I’m going to continue enjoying it for as long as the good people at Tyson chicken allow it to happen.

Looks like he could be in the same boat next year.
Fland, Davis, Aidoo, Brazille gone.
Adu probably goes to draft.
DJ 50/50 to draft.
Can't see Z back at Arkansas.
Richmond/ Knox who knows.
The Arkansas '26 season will likely hinge on what Cal can get out of Acuff and Thomas.

I liked Cal. Glad he isn't the coach anymore, but still like the guy. Hopefully our fans can show some appreciation when Ark comes to Rupp. Give him a round of applause..... then run his team off the court.
I like Cal the man. Cal the coach? Not so much. Still. I hope he doesn't get booed come February 1st. Message board anger is one thing. We don't need to show our disdain for him on national tv. I hope we will be better than that.

Seeing how things can be at Kentucky with just effort and selflessness makes me even angrier. Because of his bs, stubbornness and NBA ceap how many FFs, titles did he cost us? How many great players were wasted and how miserable had our lives been, for what? I'm just glad my dad who's not been great health wise has got to cheer and enjoy the cats again.

In time I'll be able to look back at the great times and appreciate Cal, but right now I feel like he's made his bed, time to have a nap in it. Also the ARK fans ran their mouth, the media talked about how crazy we were and wrong so F**k em.

It's sad you claim to be a Cat fan, but this is your 2nd post this season.
That's sad...
