****** OFFICIAL USCjr vs Kentucky Game Thread ******

Great feel good win today by our guys. Defense looked better, BG with a breakout game, (15 points, and his defense was solid) Oweh turning around his slow start to the game, and of course having Lamont back on the court, with his much needed hustle. Really needed this W. I know we've struggled the last few games, but I still love this team.

LOL, Oweh has 17 points / 4 reb. / 2 steals / 1 block in 30 minutes, and he gets called out for committing TWO turnovers. Butler had 3 in 23 minutes. UK only had 9 total.
Oweh is the most consistent player we’ve had in years. He really never scores 20+ but he will be between 14-18 points every single game. He scores them quietly and in the flow of the offense as well. Don’t have to run anything for him.

Is this how you live in your regular life? If you’re wife says she’s got a sore wrist but she wants to get handsy, do you just get depressed about the sore wrist?
Well I’m not married so no, and again something happened you can’t just act like it didn’t happen. And if my GF wants to get handsy with a hurt wrist, I will go steal the cortisone shot from UK myself. Robinson will be fine, he will just be sore for the next week or so.

Up until his steal and dunk, it seemed like he wasn't even out there. That was a sneaky 17 points.

Good win. South Carolina had both Auburn and Florida beat but couldn’t close. Big physical crew that is the type that has given these Cats fits.
Defense was much better in the effort department. Cats survived a couple of South C runs that have been killers for this team lately.
Carr seems to be rounding into form and each game I wonder about his back.
Williams and Garrison playing MUCH stronger around the basket.

A good win and definitely a move in the right direction.

I always like to compare what UK did vs what others did vs a specific team.

South Carolina only scored 0.82 points per possession.

That's their second lowest output on offense all season long. Only Miss St defense did better vs them.

So one game but yeah good performance on that end

Man since I do not watch live and come here to see how things are going, typically about 1.5 hours into the game and I start from the last post backwards, it seemed like we were barely winning the game. Favored by 11.5 with 3 guys hurt but playing, one playing his first game in a couple of weeks and you would think we might be up by 4 or 6 points. Then to find out we won by 24 and it was like OK so we did not look great. I guess most on here have never played a sport. If you are hurt or out for a bit it might take a game or 3 to get chemistry back. It might also take a bit for players to get back to form. My guess is that Pope is trying to make sure we are ready for a March Run, not anything but that. I would say we will probably be close to 500 in SEC play but hopefully have the start of March, Butler is 100%, Carr 100%, whomever else (JROB or any other main contributor) will be at 100% and have played a bit together again. Then just play as good as possible. We might be like last year and lose first game of SEC tourney and first game of NCAA or we might win a couple of each. Lets just see where we stand come end of SEC regular season.

"Conventional" big win.

We did it without otherworldly offensive output. It wasn't a 105 to 85 final or something like that lol

Which........ .500 doesn't sound great but honestly when 3 teams are projected 1 seeds currently and 2 teams are projected 2 seeds........right now UK is considered based on resume the 6th best team projected at a 4 seed.

It's not really all that bad. I think most would sign up for a 3-5 seed when this season began.

We aren't in tier 1 even in our conference. But it's still not bad.

Couple of crap losses away from being really solid. Just do what we can and get to March.

Let Pope build a team he's had a chance to really scout. And next year he needs to come out swinging to get good mo.

Really no chance at a 1 seed.

A 2 or 3 is pretty much the same seed. So that’s good if we get there.

Never want to be a 4.
Need to beat Tennessee to have a shot at a 3 seed come Saturday for the top 16 preview show I think

Reminder next Saturday is the top 16 reveal I would guess we are a 4 seed as of right now.

6 quad 1A wins only Auburn has more but 7 losses hurt including a quad 2 home to Arky plus that ugly NET ranking currently 23 coming into today hurts a little.

And we had 2 points at like what, 5 minutes into the game?

End up with 80.

Hard to explain that. But that’s this team.

may have missed it mentioned but I thought Brea played well today overall. Best defensive game I’ve seen from him all year. Went for 10/5/6. Great production.

Nice win, needed a confidence booster and SC is better than their record. Glad to see a game with respectable athletes on both sides that didn’t turn into a slugfest. Their coach and players seem like good guys.

If we win out, a 1 seed is on the table lol
true. And i say we win out until proven different.

I say you don't want to be a 4 and you don't. But I remember the committee shafting us with a 4 in '11 and put against the overall number 1 seed. Which meant we were the worst 4 in their eyes. Then we kicked their asses.
