Official: NBA Finals Thread

I actually agree with this. While OKC had a great regular season they essentially are just Indy in the fact they have two dudes and a bunch of role players.

Role players at all levels almost always perform better at home so I would expect that to favor OKC. But ALL the pressure is on Shai. This is legacy game pressure. He has pressure to win and to hold onto Finals MVP to cap off one of the best seasons in history. No one on Indy has that type of pressure or need to put up individual stats.

IMO the game probably comes down to the older white bench guards battle in Caruso and TJ. OKC can’t lose that by as much as they have recently and expect to win.
Yep. Really nailed it there.

Hats off to the pacers and Carlisle. The continuously changing coverage of sga slows him as much as you can.

Carlisle also used McConnell much better this game and he literally made the difference in the second quarter. Its pretty amazing to watch him get so much out of such little overall physical ability, but he does.

By contrast okc played chet way too much. He just got manhandled in this game where refs were letting everything go.

If okc loses, it will be because they gave away game 1 after getting the big lead. That really set the tone and let the pacers get lots of confidence.
Seems Chet has been manhandled the whole series and most of the playoffs- from my watching the NBA I have no idea how a lot of people think he is an elite player

If the reports are true, Houston just fleeced the Phoenix Suns.

Kevin Durant for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and the 10th overall pick in this year's draft. And maybe a bunch of 2nd round picks? But not sure on that.

Huge win for Houston either way, who not only didnt need to move Sengun or Amen, but they didnt need to move any of their other great pieces like Jabari, Cam, Reed, etc. Just lost Jalen Green which is 100% ok with me.

Not really sure how the Booker/Jalen Green combo will work. Probably not very well. Getting rid of Green and Brooks' contracts is a W for Houston no matter what.

Bradley Beal will make $53M next season, has a player option for $57M the season after and won't waive his no-trade clause. That's preventing Phoenix from doing anything. I wish Booker would demand a trade and get out of there.

Thats what is wild here, Phoenix didnt even want Jaken Green primarily because of the overlap with Beal and Booker. So instead of us sending Jabari and/or Sengun... they got the one guy they didnt really want or need, and some draft capital.

I think Booker is loyal to a fault. He’ll probably never leave Phoenix by choice. He just comes off as one of those types to me.

Honest question, but is Durant still the Kevin Durant we used to know? Seems like I never really hear about him putting up numbers or making good basketball headlines these days.

Honestly surprised he didn't try to weasel his way 'back home' to OKC now that they are poised to be title contenders for the foreseeable future.

I disagree I think he wants to win... he will be 32 at the end of his contract. He may ask out a year before that if they aren't going anywhere.

Yes and no... he still is efficient offensive weapon. If all your asking from him is 25 points and some length on the perimeter he's still solid as they come.

KD is 36.. so hes about one major injury away from retiring. But hes still a very productive player. He gives us some more length for defense and a true scoring threat thats efficient (which Green really wasnt).

And the good news for UK fans, this gives Reed much more opportunity and that might be why Houston thought Jalen Green was expendable: they believe in Reed enough to eventually take his role. Reed going to phoenix was not going yo be good. But on Houston he has a chance to compete for a title now.. and I wouldn't be shocked if hes the next UK player to win one after this finals.

Oh damn. That looks like Achilles.

Obviously he had to try and play on the bum calf, but the risk was there that his Achilles could be at risk. Now hes probably going to be out all of next season AND some of the following perhaps.

Imagine those Pacers fans at the game.. drove 12 hours to support your team in game 7 and Hali tears his Achilles 5 minutes in. Obviously the game isnt over yet, but you honestly might want to hit the road now instead of witnessing a slow death march surrounded by 20,000 OKC fans.

No better stage for weird things to happen than sports. Of course, it would help if they call this thing straight. But, maybe there's a real reason OKC already painted up the championship parade buses.

Yeah. The Pacers aren't really doing anything to hang around. Doesn't feel like they upped their energy or found a rally gear. OKC just isn't putting them away. But they better do it soon, or the Pacers will start believing and then the pressure really grows for OKC.

Pacers looking a little dejected in their body language. I can't say I blame them, but even with OKC not playing well, I don't think that bodes well for them overcoming such a loss.

That's how I see it.

If someone for the Pacers can step up, Siakham can take them the rest of the way.

I think they should definitely look to move a green for some picks or decent role players and picks. They need depth and defense.
