Official: NBA Finals Thread

Halliburton may very well be the most overrated player in the league. What a terrible game for him.

I think hes injured.

That said.. I sort of understand why he was rated most overrated. Hes a great player, but he disappears too much. The truly elite players need to put the teams on their back. Im not sure if Hali is that type of guy. Theres not a lot of Kobe and MJs out there.

But in his defense, you can be a great player and not have to have it be on points. Hali does a tremendous job playing a true point guard role. Maybe this series will unlock another level with him.

I actually went back and watched SGA’s supposed push off last game. I’m second guessing myself. Yeah he pushed. But Nesmith bumped, hand checked and even had a handful of jersey right before. Honestly a pretty fair no call from Scott Foster. They were both being physical.

Some of our fans in this thread don't understand how SGA winning MVP and an NBA title can do nothing but help Kentucky in recruiting.

Some of you guys are very small picture. It's kind of funny.

This is the main reason i’m pulling for the Thunder. We’ve never had a guy win mvp, let alone pull off the MVP, title, finals mvp triple crown. Would be a massive feather in the cap of UK basketball.

Sga is incredible and this OKC team is massively underrated. A few weeks ago for the first time i heard their record. I was shocked to hear they lost only 14 games.

How was a team, and uts star, historically great all season long and no one talked about it?

Thr winner of game 7 goes on to win the title.
I would venture to sat the winner of game 7 goes on to win the title no matter where the game is played. That is my opinion anyway.

LOL, people bashing Haliburton. He was FN hurt, you go out and try to just walk on 1 leg, much less play in a NBA championship against the worlds best players. Armchair bashing at its finest. Clueless. Some of you need to be on ESPN's circus of clueless "critics".

I think this Indiana team is extremely well coached. Looking at their roster, if I'd been asked before the season if they'd be more likely to make the finals or miss the playoffs I'd have probably chosen the latter option. The Pacers have done really well just to be in the finals.

"extremely well coached" and the fact they was in the finals LAST year, it did not surprise me one bit. Especially after Tatum went down. They came out and punched Cleveland dead in the mouth in the opening round. If not already, you should have known then.

Oh, I've been a believer for a while. But to me they are a classic example of a team being greater than the sum of its parts.

Strained calf seems very close to Achilles tear or Achilles tendinitis. Im sure he will try to give it a go, but thats a very iffy muscle to be injured.

Could be like the "flu game" for Hali. He has a +16 and has his team up 13 on an injury that seems like it should have kept him out a good week or two at least.

We'll see if OKC comes out with any juice... if they can get it to 10 going into the 4th I like their chances still.

You can tell he’s hurt, he had a horrible game 5 but he’s been amazing all postseason. He’s 100% a top 5 PG in the league. He can score when needed, he is very unselfish and can get 15 assists when he wants. He can shoot, and defend at a high level too.

Just a crazy series.

Game 7 in OKC.

Seems like a toss up at this point.

Hats off to the pacers and Carlisle. The continuously changing coverage of sga slows him as much as you can.

Carlisle also used McConnell much better this game and he literally made the difference in the second quarter. Its pretty amazing to watch him get so much out of such little overall physical ability, but he does.

By contrast okc played chet way too much. He just got manhandled in this game where refs were letting everything go.

If okc loses, it will be because they gave away game 1 after getting the big lead. That really set the tone and let the pacers get lots of confidence.

I just get the sense that I can trust Hali and Siakim in a game 7, more than anyone on OKC (obviously aside from SGA scoring 30). It just feels like they are ready for this moment, and I'm not sure OKC is.
Let’s hope so! Go Pacers. I just hope Haliburton is healthy enough to make a difference. He needs a big game. Like 25/12 or so.

I actually agree with this. While OKC had a great regular season they essentially are just Indy in the fact they have two dudes and a bunch of role players.

Role players at all levels almost always perform better at home so I would expect that to favor OKC. But ALL the pressure is on Shai. This is legacy game pressure. He has pressure to win and to hold onto Finals MVP to cap off one of the best seasons in history. No one on Indy has that type of pressure or need to put up individual stats.

IMO the game probably comes down to the older white bench guards battle in Caruso and TJ. OKC can’t lose that by as much as they have recently and expect to win.

Comes down to OKC star duo vs Pacers's depth. If SGA or Williams have a special game, it's gonna be very hard for the Pacers to overcome. If Hali and Siakim play their average games, but OKC allows role players to get off, it'll be tough for OKC. Interesting dynamic. Oddly enough, I don't mind game seven being at OKC all that much. Yes, not ideal, but puts all the pressure on OKC. The Thunder are going to need to keep a 15 point cushion on to keep positive energy in the building. If the Pacers keep it tight, that apprehensive energy can turn into a 6th man pretty quick.
