It doesent matter at this point. Pope has a team full of players who are incapable of putting teams away. It will be an early exit no matter the seed. Might win the first round game but that’s it.

Never underestimate Doug Shows and crew either. We couldn’t cut without being hugged all night. That late turnover by Perry was a pass to Amari who would literally held to not be there to catch that pass. Plus Oweh killed on most drives and no whistle compared to How many any 1s by Johnson. We gotta get revenge on Vandy, gotta find a way.

We missed enough free throws to win easily. Brea stunk up the gym completely. Has he had a decent shooting game away from Rupp?? Carr is still struggling mightily ; I think Alomnar is a better option right now., but he stands and wstches people rebound. On the missed free throw where texas got it back, he never moved!Chandler is basically unplayable. Oweh with way too much one on one dribbling and we don't need him shooting 3s at critical times. I think this was his worst game. Garrison doest need to handle the ball and try to pass like Williams. Not nearly enough Noah and way too much Brea tonight. I think overall a piss poor effort, dumb plays and I love coach Pope, but this wasn't his best game either!

Pope did NOT lose this game. He did not take a single shot, actually did not play a single second. You and the rest of us have no idea what the game plan was and what was practiced all week. I do know the kids did not play very smart but to say Pope lost is just dumb. In the heat of the game some kids forget what was practiced, planned, or their individual duties. We have very few kids that have played at this level this late in the season. We lack high level athletic talent. Coach Pope has given us more than we could have ever hoped for with this squad. Damn, relax and stop thinking we should or will win every game. There are no undefeated teams in America. We have a patchwork squad that has out performed this year. Lean back and enjoy our success that far exceeds expected results.
win or lose the coach is responsible what the outcome of the game is but you made a good point
I mean, we used that same excuse for Cal. Coach owns the result, good or bad. That's part of being the leader.
Now, that being said, it's Pope's first year with a team made basically with duct tape and bubble gum. So, while I'm frustrated, I'm not calling for his head. I want to see what he can do with a team he had much more time to put together. If we have similar results next season, color me a bit worried.
I honestly feel we should not pass judgement on Pope as a coach until he has had 3 recruiting seasons. One never knows what he can get in the portal this year. I do not think Ament will be a Wildcat and we can't really expect most freshmen to really contribute a ton, especially in the SEC. Let's judge Pope after the 2027 season. I think we will all be quite happy with Pope. I am thrilled with his results this year so far but this year actually has zero indications of his success here. It depends on recruiting, injuries, schedule, and some luck.

This team has 2 total road wins this season and won each by 5 points. There aren't going to be any cakewalks on the road.
We don't play Arkansas again. The fact that you think we are gonna magically win out as injured as we are is admirable delusion.
I don’t think it’s on Pope at all.
He can only play the players he has and it wasn’t like he could be all that choosy.
He had to put together a whole team and coaching staff in about a month.
I think most everyone thought Amari was going to be the defensive player we needed in the middle. But he’s not even a decent defender.
Everyone thought Chandler was going to be key once he knocked off the rust. He hasn’t.
Some will criticize the coaching for subbing and situations. But I never go there. With prior coaches either.
They see the players everyday. They aren’t making decisions on a whim and hoping it works
We have to trust the coaching staff on that.
If we can’t trust the coaches on that then it’s time to get one we can.
If we still see obviously wrong guys in situations 2-3 years from now then it’s time for concern.
Pope has done too many great things already to not get the benefit of the doubt.
When Williams is showing he’s not going to guard or rebound who does he put in? Garrison? Carr? Neither are improvements.
When Perry is being bothered by pressure who’s he going to put in now? Oweh can’t run the point.
I read here that Noah could play point. But again, professional coaches see him everyday in practice. They clearly don’t think he can
When you watch the games every SEC has athletic perimeter players that can guard our perimeter players. We don’t have that.
That jumps off the TV that we are overmatched athletically against everyone we play in the SEC.
That’s not fixed in a timeout.
Last night was just so disappointing because we could have won. And really had it won.
