***Official Cats vs Vols Sweet Sixteen Thread***

This really drives home the point

You can be a very good coach but if you don't have to the talent your not winning in March.
Yeah ... Pope answered concerns about lack of post-season success (despite the current debacle). Hopefully he answers the other big question with a strong portal haul.

He put together a team in a single month. I mean, he did really well with the pieces he had. Now, he is getting people for next year that he can work with. I think we will be great next year.
I get it and I am sure he does too. He now knows what kind of players he needs to be successful in the SEC.

Lamont, you big dummy.

To nothing in particular, I just wanted to say it before the season was officially over.

Anyone who thinks Noah will ever be good enough to play meaningful minutes at Kentucky, must be seeing something that I am not seeing. This guy couldn't guard a light post. He is another type player that Pope needs to avoid. The SEC is too good for players like the aforementioned.
Sadly it’s probably true. Maybe as a senior but we need way more talent on the court. Especially if the system breaks down.

Less talented teams have advanced, but our talent level has been exposed many times.

Pope cobbled together a bunch of players who weren’t really star level players at their respective level. All of them have glaring holes. Butler and Oweh couldn’t shoot. The freshman weren’t 5 stars. Williams and Almonor didn’t dominate at the midmajor level.

I was impressed he had a team with Butler, Williams, and Oweh in the starting lineup, all mediocre offensive players for their career, and had them playing as a top 3 offensive unit.

I think about what happens versus what could have been.........

I think a lot of us were upset when going into the tourney, we had injuries.

We could done a good ole calipari and just lost in the 2nd round...

Maybe it's the fact we beat TN twice this year.....

Im proud that we made the sweet 16.

If Pope wants to be successful at UK, he shouldn't waste any more scholarships on players like Carr and Williams.
Idiotic take. They both have limitations but we don’t get many of our bigger wins w/out Williams and Carr. They were just the best we could get with Pope’s limited time to recruit once he was hired.

They are going to hold this over us for the rest of time, literally the one damn team you couldn’t lose to.
So? What have they ever done? If this is their crowning achievement that is just sad. If they were smart they would just be happy. But they will act like their program with zero final 4s is anywhere near ours.

At the end of the day, all the less talented teams will have or will go home.

We are going to get a final four with the four best teams in America this season IMO. Which also happen to be the four most talented teams IMO.

It's kinda amazing Pope got what he did out of this bunch.

He’s a true freshman. Give some grace.
