Not that Im complaining, youd think they would have made Cleveland our "rival" with 6 games but they gacw us Detroit. 'Preciate ya.

Youd think CIN-CLE, CHS-CHC, STL-KC, DET-PIT, MIL-MIN would be the logical pairings.

Cleveland to Pittsburgh is a quicker drive than Cleveland to Cincinnati, about an hour and a half difference.

Detroit to Cincinnati is only half an hour longer than Detroit to Pittsburgh

so I guess it makes sense although i thought for sure we’d get Cleveland. I’ll take it tho, thank you very much

Went ahead and changed the thread title boys.

TONIGHT TONIGHT TONIGHT

Exhibition v Detroit. I assume the game is on FSO? I work 2nd shift so I listen to the call and watch replay on MLB.TV when i get home. Watched a bit of Giants As and Cubs Chisox last night. So weird with no fans but otherwise really not too different. I listened to the Phillies Yankees and Indians Pirates at work and I gotta say, it didnt sound or feel any different at all.

this going to be our typical lineup vs a Lefty? Ervin I like, Davidson not so much (I know he’s looked alright the past week)

Just a little talk about last nights exhibition game. Sure Lodolo was nervous and this and that but man, he left ball after ball right down broadway, missed his spot consistently and doesn’t seem to have much swing and miss in his game

think that was the most notable thing, we know Detroit’s pitching is brutal

I was screaming (to myself with headphones on at the plant like a crazy man ) "are you throwing ****ing batting practicie Nick?!?! This is your time!!" Lol. Clearly hes got some more work to do, but I like that Bell is giving him a vote of confidence by putting him out there.

I havent kept up with Hunter Greene, hes the arm Id like to see us trying. He still injured or rehabbing?

Also, Cowboy or Tommy, whoever, said exactly what I was thinking when I posted yesterdays lineup. If Nick Senzel is your 8th hitter, you might be doing alright batwise lol

Greene is throwing and hit 102 in practice. He will be in the equation next year or the year after.

Could we see Greene as the closer at some point in the future? Or will they develop him as a starter? 102?
Chapmanesque......

I’d give him every opportunity to be a starter, he’s only 20 so he has plenty of time to develop a couple more pitches. That said, maybe use him in the pen as early as this year.

So far the Reds have a ShoGo/Ervin platoon in LF. I'm all for Ervin vs lefties, but the platoon should be Ervin/Winker at DH. I think ShoGo will prove to be an every day LF.

Either way, I'm loving the offensive lineup for the Reds. Our starting pitching is pretty solid as well. May just need another stud in the back end of the bullpen to make a run. Should be fun for a change haha.

Sonny was filthy last night. But agree with above....Moose was my takeaway from last night. Dude came through on O and D....loved that diving catch.

And how about Joey at the plate??

1 hr to Game 2 boys. LETS GO REDS

Castillo was at 90 pitches at the end of the 6th but I would have went with him 1 more inning after the 3 strikeout 6th inning. Castillo could have told Bell he was ready to come out in the Top of the 7th but the Inning killed us with our relief pitching. Stephenson and Lorenzen blew it in the 7 inning with 2 home-run and 3 runs given up with the Reds leading 3-1. I hope this trend stops after Game 2 because last year we had some outstanding starts from starting pitching and then the relief pitching came in and blew many games last year with our Relief Pitchers!

Watched the game at a sports bar (face mask and all).

I’m not a baseball genius, or any other kind, but had a huge WTF moment when the Tigers left a right-handed pitcher (who’d just walked a player) to face Votto in the 9th. My brother later told me the shortened season requires a relief pitcher to face three batters?!?!? I guess it shortens the game.

Maybe the Reds need to throw $160 million at the bullpen.

Two seasons ago, I thought our relief pitching was pretty good . . . .

With a 60 game season, maybe starters can throw 105 pitches and get to the eighth?

Iglesias is not the answer except to the opposing team's prayers in late innings

Well crap. Davidson is out with Covid and now Moustakas was a scratch today and is expected out 2 weeks with Covid--I'm basing this on Thom's speculation. Senzel also out today with no reason given. Blah

Need to win this series today...

Welp. Castellonos turns out to be a punk. Whining about being take out of the 1st game and ain't done nothing since. Wasted money on him. Bell as usual mis managed the game yesterday and today they can't hit.....again.
Looks like another year of sucking. Also, the announcers the Reds have are the absolutel worst to listen to. Hyped and pimped this team like it was the next Big Red machine.
Strting pitching is legit.

Now that's how you start a season. Maybe they should work on their kneeling for the Anthem some more. Seems to be more important to them than anything else.

The bullpen is going to be awful. This should easily been a 3 game sweep. Lose it in the 7th and 9th innings yesterday. Then today in the 9th inning. Lorenzen looks terrible and where was the hitting the last 2 games. The 3 starters looked awesome this weekend. I would just pitch the starters until there arms fall off especially how this bullpen looked in last 2 games.

Maybe a starter could take one for the team and move to middle relief.

Starter, today, struck out 13 in six and a third.

Can’t get much better.

At least no starter has lost a no-hitter, 1-0 . . . not yet.

Yes, the bullpen sucks but David Bell will micro-manage this team to a 3rd or 4th place finish

Great thing about the shortened season: it’s late July and the Reds are only a game out!!!

First time in 7 or 8 years we could say that!

3 game losing streak in a 60 game season is equivalent to a 8 game losing streak in a normal year.

This team is done for.

Really not the lineup we were expecting to send out there. Moustakas, Senzel and Akiyama not in there. Suarez off to a horrific start also. Looks bad..... but, we are still early. If we get the kind of starting pitching, we got against Detroit. We still can reel off some wins. Granted, Miley looked horrendous. But, our bullpen is not as bad as the last two games. Hoping we can turn it around and fast.

I will use this thread to rant so...

-^blame Bell for not having Shogo in there, put the guy in lead-off spot every game. Bell is an over-managing micromanager, same as last season
-continued inability to get 2 out base hits or score from third with less than 2 outs, same as last (several) seasons
-Senzel is made of glass, can't count on him to stay healthy
-bullpen is nothing but gas cans to blow potential wins up

I am not convinced on Bell either. He is way too much on the lefty / righty matchups for my liking. I remember a game last year when someone went 3-4 and he was out of the lineup the next day as Bell didn't want him facing a lefty. Shogo can hit so let him play.
