Offensive Coordinators —— 2 Lists !!!!

I know....some fans are the nuttiest of them all. People have literally (and not all were joking) brought up Eddie Gran, Joker Phillips, then a few air raid guys along with read option guys. It's like WTH are you people even thinking. While we are at it...why not some wishbone pure options guys from Barry Switzer era.🤬
Elliot Uzalec should not be overlooked, lol .

Woodward seems to be a good recruiter. Coen handpicked him. I am hoping he has demonstrated he is ready. Sticking with the McVey system seems really important. If not, I have to think that Joe Brady would rather be a college OC than be an NFL QB coach. If he comes back to college, you run the risk of losing him to the NFL again, but that seems the risk for any of these guys. Time for Stoops to show we have a system and can succeed regardless of the OC, a la Saban.

I will be very disappointed if we go in a different direction scheme wise. I don't care if we could convince Lane Kiffen to come be OC, I want a Pro-Style offense. Obviously a McVay or Shannahan disciple is preferable but any kind of spread offense (Air Raid or the more running oriented type) would be a step back IMO. Especially since our entire recruiting pitch to 2023 kids has been come play in a true Pro offense to prepare you for the League.

I’m with you. Honestly, I havent seen ANY reason to switch to the much talked about “outside zone “ blocking scheme. Give me a physical , tackle breaking back like Crod any day. Picking up tough yards , especially in short yardage situations seems to be very underrated these days.
The reason for the outside zone is that it forces LBs and DBs to stick with their reads longer and creates more big plays. It isn't better purely for the running game, the inside works better for that. The reason for it is that it creates more big plays.

I’d be curious if it requires more precision from the players. Seems like there would be a bigger margin for error because of guys missing assignments?
